What would we have to add to get Skinner and the 5th? I would do that deal any day of the week.
The new GM comes from the Detroit system. Eriksson is one of the most "Detroit type" players in the league not playing in Detroit. I doubt he's going anywhere and I definitely don't see him being traded for a guy as defensively deficient as Skinner.
Both Skinner and Voracek were drafted 7th overall in their respective draft years. Through 3 seasons (when he was traded) Voracek scored .55 points per game at a pretty steady pace over 241 games.
Skinner, who has also just finished his 3rd season, has scored .70 points per game over 188 games and has declined in production in both seasons since his rookie year.
Voracek is/was also more defensively responsible from my estimation.
Skinner's better offensive game and the fact that Carolina's pick is a little higher would probably cause Dallas to add a decent pick or prospect to make those two trades equal. But all in all those two packages aren't way off in value.
Kings offer STARTS with Toffoli, Martinez and Ellerby, and your choice of Nolan or King...three guys who would play for Dallas immediately. Stars have kids like Jamie Benn. They need young players close to his age, not draft picks, IMO. Toffoli would immediately take over for Eriksson and the other players would fill various roles.
For the Kings, we will have a too many D issue again. We only do this deal if we sign Regher and Scuderi. If we lose one, we will keep one of those D, probably Ellerby. If Penner wants too much money, he can walk. We replace him with Brown, replace Brown with Eriksson and replace King/Nolan with Clifford/Pearson or Richardson (if we still have him).
