Absolutely ridiculous.
Why is it ridiculous? It's refreshing not seeing him on the ice every other shift.

We are expecting so much from him because he is our #1 dman. Yes, it's unreasonable to expect him to immediately perform at that level his first game back, or even his first two or three. But Marc Staal at only 80% is a clear upgrade over Eminger. Inserting him into the 3rd pairing improves the team. And if he's able to move up to the top 2 pairings we're in much better position to win this series. His presence in the lineup is that important. He's been practicing so he's pretty close to game shape. Just need the eye to clear up a bit and there's no reason to expect he can't be a shut down defender for us once again.

You could even in some situations ice an entire Blue Jackets line. The New Jackets line?
Blue - Shirts/Jackets????

That's hysterical.

Sad too about Sauer's absence. What a great hockey player that man was developing into. I'm convinced our defense would be the best in the entire league with Sauer back on the right side. Who would sit as the 7th, Anton Stralman or Johnny Moore

Having a STRONG feeling we are going to see Staal in practice tomorrow going full force.

Ready for game 1.

(nothing to back it up, just what I think)

Possibly Dorsett as well if his MRI goes well but I dont know what time hes having it.

I dont think they really have to. If he comes to camp it has to be a 2 way deal. The depth chart next yr is fine with Staal, Girardi,McDaonaugh,Del Zotto, Moore, Stralman, ?McIlrath. They likely bring back Eminger as a spare again.

btw Haley coming on the trip may mean some guys are still banged up. Better safe than sorry plus Haley has a shot at making the team next yr. I see him as the cheap spare

Not a very good shot at all.

With Lindberg, Fast, Kreider and Miller all looking to make the ranger club full time. And all the 4th liners are still under contract next season.

His fractures are healed but he still has blurry vision in the eye. He's been practicing and is close to game shape. Just needs his vision to get a little better. Basically he's day to day.

When I was a kid one of my friends threw a thick piece of bark right at my face, from like 2 feet away. It hit directly in the eye, actually you can tell where it hit if you look really hard, as it is marked by a small little slit/scar directly above my pupil.

I remember it really well actually. For some reason my mouth started salivating profusely and my nose started getting runny. When I opened my eye, at first I could see absolutely nothing. I tried to open my eye but it stung too much to be able to see out of it and the only thing providing me any type of relief was holding the palm of my hand against it and applying warm pressure to it. I went to the ER and I remember them forcing the eye open to see the extent of the damage. I could see but everything was a strong blue color, and everything was blurry as well. I had to wear an eye patch for 2 weeks, and also put in these strong yellow eye drops every day that stung and also crusted my eye completely shut each morning. After 2 weeks they eye patch came off but I was still sensitive to light and my vision didnt fully heal for a few more weeks after that.

Point being, it takes time for an eye injury to heal. I'm sure Staal has been improving every coming day, the first few weeks are the worst. I'm not a doctor, I don't know how his condition differs from my own, but from what i've read, the doctors think he will make a full recovery eventually. I'm almost positive I read that he's been cleared for contact for the last few weeks, the team is just holding him out as long as possible to protect him and allow him to improve. He missed 3-4 weeks on the ice and he lost 15 pounds. These last few weeks he's probably been adjusting to his eye, regaining weight, and conditioning himself for this. My gut tells me he'll be suited and ready to play on Thursday night. I hope its right.

Waiting till Thurs for Game 1 sucks but it could be huge for us with Staal, Clowe, and Dorsett all coming back.

Glad you made a full recovery. I also think there's a good chance Marc is ready to go on Thursday. And I like our chances a lot better with him in.

Totally agree. The extra days off is huge. Really don't think it can be overstated how important it will be to get these guys healthy.

Play Staal in a sheltered position with Moore until he gets his groove back. I think a 75-80% Staal is close to an Eminger

A 75% Staal is a 120% Eminger.

any tweets/direct info regarding Clowe and/or Doresett???

I'm assuming Staal should be good to go this week or next... He got hit on march 5th, this coming Tuesday would be 8 weeks
According to the person above, it looks like he took about 2-4 weeks for vision return, 4-6 weeks for healing... luckily, marc didnt get hit directly in the eye

Neither Staal nor Moore play on the right side and I don't want either of them out of position for the playoffs. I don't know if he's ready to get 2nd pairing minutes but Staal with MDZ makes the most sense. Maybe do Moore-DZ and Staal-Stralman.

I always end up completely disregarding handedness when making D pairs

Haley replaces Asham (WHO Costs only 75 k to demote)
1-2 of Boyle, Pyatt or Powe (depending on the MZA and Clowe resigning s) are traded at the deadline
Frees up roster and cap space to put together a nice roster
I think Lindberg makes the team
Fast mid season
Miller most likely
Kreider (under Torts) is the big ???
All othe guys incl Big Mac (pending trades) are very dark horses

Boyle is one of our top PKers, I know you used the sarcasm emote but I'm sure there are people who legitimately think we're better off without Boyle. We have a pretty weak PK heading into the playoffs without Boyle. You really want Nash out there against the Caps PP? Just sayin'
