Granted he at least scored a goal, which Francis didn't in 45 games. He only had 7 assists. Its a school record for games played for a forward never scoring a goal.

Chris Heisenberg's recruit site has Warroad Forward Aaron Marvin committing to play for SCSU. He's the younger brother of former Sioux D-man Lee Marvin. And he was taken #89 by the Flames in this years draft. He'll either come in 07 or 08

This summer has been pretty bad for the Seawolves up at Alaska-Anchorage. While teams such as Minnesota,. North Dakota and Wisconsin are losing players to pro ranks, UAA is losing players to other schools, including to those in their own conference! Billy Smith became the lastest depature. Smith is tranferring to Northern Michigan, this according to Doyle Woody of the Anchorage Daily News. Smith follows Eric Walsky and Shea Hamilton among the parade of players leaving Anchorage. Walsky has opted to transfer to Colorado College while Hamilton will be in Grand Forks in the fall of 2007.

...and speaking of Anchorage, this provides a good segway to some coaching news.

Dave Shyiak has rounded out his coaching staff at UAA by adding Blair Campbell as an assistant coach. Campbelll comes to UAA from Maine serving under Tim Whitehead as his assistant there the last couple of seasons.

Meanwhile, speaking of Maine...Guy Perron has been named Grant Stanbrook's successor. Stanbrook, long considered one of the nation's top recruiters, has retired but will remain with the program as a volunteer assistant coach. Perron comes over from the Black Bears women's team, having recently serving as head coach.

Jason Lammers returns to the D-I coaching ranks, having been named Steve Brent's successor at Ohio State. Brent, who served as one of John Markell's assistant at OSU has left to take a job outside of hockey. Last season, Lammers served as head coach at D-III SUNY Geneseo (his alma mater). Lammers' last coaching stint at the D-I level was in the 2004-05 season when he served as Guy Gadowsky's assistant at Princeton.

Huskies beat writer Kevin Allenspach is reporting in his blog that the Huskies have let go of recruit Jared Hummel

http://miva.sctimes.com/miva/cgi-bin...id=KAllenspach

He was a Mr. Hockey finalist two seasons ago, but this will be his third year in juniors and he has just never shown much skill in the USHL. Good luck to him, but its not a big loss for the team and it frees up a scholarship that can be used on a much better player.

I would suspect he'll either try one of the smaller schools now or end up going the DIII route.

BU gets verbal from a top 2008 from Ontario

Research on Ice reports that Stouffville Spirit center (and former Toronto Marlie) Corey Trivino commited to BU.USHR and other publications suggest Trivino would have been a first round OHL draft choice if not committed to the NCAA route.

ROI: Sunday August 6, 2006

Back on July 21st, we featured the OPJHL's Stoufville Spirit and its incoming star center Corey Trivino. While New Hampshire and Boston College were in the running for the 1990 born's NCAA services, it seemed Boston University always had the edge, which was confirmed to us yesterday upon the news Trivino had in fact committed to the Terriers for the fall of 2008.

Here's the reprise on Trivino (Something To Prove, ROI July 21, 2006):

Corey Trivino
Center
6-0, 160
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Etobicoke, Ont
DOB: January 12, 1990

Two years ago, Trivino skated alongside Sam Gagner and John Tavares for the Toronto Bantam Marlies, and was hardly out of place. Last season, he played 30 games for the Marlies' midget minor squad, scoring 17 goals and 39 points. Last week, Trivino officially signed on to play in Stouffville for 2006-07, and although he's property of the Barrie Colts--who chose him 88th overall at the 2006 OHL draft, Trivino, who's as impressive a person as he is a player, is about as committed to taking the D-I route as they come.

"He skated with us in our spring camp," says Stoufville head coach Dan West, "and it was amazing not only what he did on the ice, but also what he did before and after. Without even being asked, Corey was first to offer to fill the the water bottles (requisite work for any rookie), and he could have easily played for my team last year. He's always been considered a special kid, and the spotlight's going to be on him next year. But he'll handle it, because he's very mature.

Any weaknesses to his game?

"Well, some think he doesn't shoot enough, and that he'd rather set up his teammates, if that's a bad thing," West laughs, "but he really has all the tools, good vision, a good shot when he uses it, and very good speed. Next year, he's going to be, as a 16 year-old, playing right in step with 20 year-old men."

Who wants Trivino? Plenty of schools, including Hockey East sides New Hampshire, Boston College and Boston University.

Adds West: "I think he wants to have things wrapped up on that by the end of the summer."

The Alaska Nanooks (that's formerly UAF, for those that don't know) will be bringing in a smaller than expected incoming freshman class this fall due to academic ineligibility issues. A. J. Mikkelson and Matt Shuya were ruled academically ineligible and couldn't get through the NCAA clearinghouse. Meanwhile, Brandon Campos was still waiting to get his results back from the NCAA. Instead he and the Nanooks have opted to "go their separate ways". All of this according to THIS Fairbanks Daily News-Miner story.

According to The Wolverine (University of Michigan's Rivals site), Tyler Swystun has left Ann Arbor for the WHL. Swystun accelerated to play for the maize and blue this past season but saw his share of struggles to become an impact player. Swystun was also the youngest player in the CCHA last season.

I can't seem to access the article on The Wolverine but you can read snippets of the story on mgoblog (just scroll down the page a bit, you'll see it).

Swystun is the second player from the Wolverine squad last season to bolt from the team. Zac MacVoy left in the spring due to a lack of playing time. He'll be playing in the USHL this fall and will likely transfer to another NCAA school.

Any relation of A.J. Mikkelson with Duckies prospect Brendan Mikkelson?

CC loses another player...but it's NOT to another school or the pros.

J. P. Brunkhorst has left the team (but not CC) to concentrate on his studies (he's trying to get into med-school). You can read the whole story HERE.

Rabid: The Matt Francis to Bemidji story was on the Huskies Center Ice Club's site. I also found the tidbit on Garrity leaving on Kevin Allenspach's blog.

I figured the Francis one would be reported eventually. And Garrity is gone, but now I'm not sure if its to Kato or not.
Heisenberg initially had him listed in the '07 section for Kato, but he's not there anymore. So I don't know if he's still going there, I just know he's not returning to the Huskies.
