Still can't believe the huge turnaround we've had. Glad to see us really step up last night and now I'm really looking forward to the playoffs. Here's hoping that Price is awesome and we go all the way.

In the last few years, the team would usually sneak in the playoffs through the back door (i.e. OT loss in the last game or so... etc).

This year, we sort of sneaked into division lead through the back door.

Feels much better, man. I would almost say it feels good!

Great, but they wouldn't have been there if not for the fact that the Balloons also nosedived in the last few weeks. For a while it seemed that the Habs might finish first in the East, ahead of a Crosby-less Pittsburgh.

I said this on here a few times already, but I bet a friend before the season started $50 that the Habs would make the playoffs. The first time I posted that here I didn't get a lot of positive responses.

Although I said to my friend after the bet was made that Carey Price was going to cost him fifty bux. I was wrong there as the whole team cost him that and played much better than I was expecting. What a turnaround with lots to look forward to.

Our last 2 division titles have come with Markov playing the only 2 full seasons of his career.

Coincidence? I think not.

Congrats to the team on the title. Now let's take care of business.

Good season so far. What a great turn around. From worst to first (NE Division). Crazy.

Hopefully more good memories to come this year.

love the bear getting slapped in the face lol

all kidding aside, what a team we have here!!

This team deserved to finish 2nd in the east period.

I hope coach has a short leash with the guys not pulling their weight cause we have depth options and guys who deserve more ice time.

If Eller and the gallys are the best line then play them the most damnit!!

If the best players are getting the ice time we win for sure, dont care who our opponent is.

Our young players are key, they are our best players. If they deserve the ice time and PP time then they better get it.

Go Habs Go

You're really making it black and white.

There were the ones who said "Oh well, we've had a great year, it's fine that we just made the playoffs"

"So and so sucks and should be traded, etc."

and the majority of people who were actually realistic and said

"This is not the way the Canadiens of this year play and they need to get their heads out of their *****, but they'll be fine if they do it in time."

Well, which sentiment do you think is the most appropriate? The players, coaches, management themselves acknowledged the suckitude and if it were not for some deep soul searching and hard work those last two games, the title of this thread would be different.

I hope the Habs build off of that last game, it was a thing of beauty.

GO HABS GO! So proud!

Happy but well see what they do next. Good season but means nothing if they end it on bad note. Play hard even in a loss and well truly feel culture change.

Not a nothing thing for us to be division champs. This sort of thing would mean a ton next year and if you go by records of all the teams who WILL be in the Northeast, we'd still come out on top. Will mean more in future when divisions are 7-8 teams. And it's only our third division title in 24 years (2008, 1992 the others) so let's savour it while we can (of course it doesn't matter in the grand scheme since the Habs in the modern era, since 1943, have also topped their division in 1988-89, 1985, 1975-82, 1973, 1968-69, 1966, 1964, 1958-62, 1956, 1944-47 for a total of 29 division titles in 70 years).

Finishing as division champ is even more impressive when you consider how strong it was this year. Only Buffalo crashed, the others are all playoff bound.

Well deserved by these guys, be very honest I did not have them there or even keeping up with Boston. Guys have earned my respect and these 2 young kids have made me love the Habs even more this year(if it's even possible)

Go Habs Go

The habs didn't just lose games, they got spanked...big time! I agree that people who claimed the habs were showing their true bottom dwelling colors during the tough stretch didn't give them enough credit for their season but at the same time it was hard to see them lose all those games at the same time emelin went down.

It's a whole new season and Price needs to prove he is the future of this franchise. Moen needs to step it up a couple of notches. We're going to be in for a great series!

Go Habs go!

How can Therrien NOT win coach of the year?? 28th to 4th by only adding Prust, Armstrong, Bouillon and 2 rookies?? Should be a lock...

To them, last season was real and this season was 'overachieving'.

Excuses, sour grapes and whining don't change the reality. The Habs were atop the division almost the entire season and deserve to finish there. Congratulations.
My thoughts exactly!
I like it though, 4th overall and still the underdog!
How awesome is that?

MacLean taking a semi-AHL calibre team through most of the season and making the playoffs. He should be up there as well.

I ve said it before and will say it again!
Once a team loses confidence in their goalie, its very very tough to get into a game.
Im pretty confident that Price has put that bad stretch behind him, and am also confident that we will see the pre-slump team in rd 1.
