I know I'm not the only one who thinks Edmonton will win it. I hate this new draft system.

At least the Flyers have a chance to win it this year. Before it could only be one of Florida, Tampa Bay, Colorado, Nashville, and maybe Carolina as you could only jump 4 spots.

Yeah but still the likelyhood of them winning this is very slim.

I'd prefer the odds be closer to even--or some sort of supplemental lottery to reward late-season pushes (I've suggested a separate lottery for the 2nd overall in which the chance of success is inverse to the record over the last 10 games or something).

But I don't hate it because Edmonton can get the 1st overall. If we were working under the old system, and somehow managed to win the lottery, how disappointing would it be to "only" move up to 7th?

The funny thing is I think they created this system so there would be a less of a chance to end up with the first pick multiple years in a row like Edmonton. If Edmonton wins it will be by sheer luck.

Sheer luck and the curse of Steve Tambellini

I wish they would fully adopt the NBA's system. Have a lottery for every pick not just the 1st pick.

NBA system is only for the top-3 picks, and the odds are similarly stacked in favor of the worst teams.

If we win I might laugh until I die.

Oh I was under the impression every pick was up for grabs and they went down the line from 14-1.

Not unless they changed it recently?

It was always a lottery for the top three picks, with everyone else dropping not more than three lines.

I don't watch the NBA or have any interest in it so I'm probably wrong here.

Edit: You're right only the top 3 picks are up for grabs. I still wouldn't mind that though, make it would make it a little more interesting.

I watched every game the Flyers played, so my sleeping rhythm is screwed up right now. There will be some kind of broadcast of the draft lottery, right? If so, could someone give me a link to watch it? when it's up, that is..

Can we make some kind of "Sell Your Soul"-esque deal with the hockey Gods in order for us to win tonight?

The Flyers will do that, draft Seth Jones and then he goes on to become the next Gord Kluzak......

Had to look him up. Yikes.

Though with a name like Gord Kluzak you're bound to be a bust.

Here's hoping the draft goes exactly like that.

Kluzak played a role in the Flyers getting Brad McCrimmon. The Bruins needed a goalie and had excess d-men. The Flyers situation was reversed with Pelle Lindbergh waiting. The Flyers traded goalie Pete Peeters, straight up, for McCrimmon the day Kluzak was drafted.

Also, had a legendary fight once with Dave Brown -- friction which began in their Western Hockey League days.

Somewhere Krishna is fist-pumping seeing Zadarov at 7th .

Seriously though. Something is weird. He is 7th on ISS but 22nd on CS. I do lean towards CS since I've always favored them, but something is wierd..

That being said Risto at 11th IS PERFECT. GO THAT WAY Atleast he is consistently between 8-13 ish.

Mantha is too low. Zykov at 16 on iSS and 7 on CS makes me think the Flyers REALLY consider him at 11. Mueller at 9 on CS but not even top 30 on ISS.

EDIT: Oh thats the 4/15 list. Looking forward to their May release. It's two weeks old so I do think some players bad or good play during playoffs has effected the rankings.

Also being able to sell Crosby and Malkin VS. Giroux and Jones would be great for NBC for the next 7-10 years
It does seem like for marketing purposes that coming to the Flyers would be the best option for the sake of the league as a whole. Someone get Daley or Bettman on the phone and tell them to get to work on making this happen. It's what's best for everyone.

Bo Horvat made a nice jump on that list. He went from 24th to 10th.
