I liked Bob's list of prospects, had a top-10 but squeezed in 11, really showing there is no huge drop off for us (which should have been obvious, anyway).

I really think almost every team except Colorado, Edmonton and possibly Buffalo should be picking a forward. Obviously you should go for BPA, but when it's pretty close you should be going for need. I think one of Nurse, Ristolainen or Zadorov ends up in Philly.

Well I'll say it again, in Bob's Top 10, he had a tie at #10 for Hunter and Nurse. Please god I hope #10 takes Hunter and we get Nurse .

MacKensie had Nurse ranked 10th equal, behind Ristolainen and Zadorov. Maybe he could still end up in Philly.

They had the second highest chance of winning it. There's really no difference between them and Florida winning it, both are struggling franchises.

Suggesting that they rigged it is laughable.

True. There is some silver lining to it.

Here's hoping Nichushkin's contract makes him available at #11.

Exactly. Needs to be done in front of an audience to make it credible

Good col won as I think it's better for Fla as I think they would of took Mackinnon anyways. Now both teams fill biggest hole on each team. T bay gets their winger o replace St. Louis. Preds get Barkov.

Yup, they might has well have just posted an article saying Colorado won. There was no difference. This is like the NHL declaring that Blackhawks won the Cup but nobody is actually allowed to watch the playoffs.

I don't know why they don't do it. I'm not much of conspiracy theorist so I really don't question it when the team with second highest odds wins it. I would question it if a team like the Flyers won it from the 11th spot more than I would with a team in the 2nd spot.

I would like to see them do it live in the open though just because it brings more excitement IMO.

@BroadStBull
The last #Flyers player to get drafted 11th overall? Jeff Carter in 2003.

I agree. There's absolutely no way we can tell if it's rigged or not.

1. Because there's no way to create any suspense (edit: for a 30-minute special, that is)

2. No, the NBA doesn't do it live anymore.

A lottery for the first 3 picks would be much better, IMO. It still guarantees the worst team a top-5 pick, but it also creates more suspense (for television) and, more importantly, gives teams that just miss the playoffs three chances to get into the top of the draft.

I'm confident that we'll come out of the draft with someone we were targeting.

they basically wasted our time by going through each team's position. no one gives a **** since the winner automatically gets the first pick. all they had to do was show them loading in each team's balls and then picking the winner

If they did it this way it could actually be credible. Until they do people will wonder what really goes on

I really like this model better than the one currently used by the NHL.

I believe someone mentioned it earlier, a team may want to move down to draft Zachary Fucale. The Flyers are sitting right around where some mock drafts have him going so it could be a possibility. If we don't move though, I'm sure we'll get a good player we've been looking at with the 11th pick.

Either way. Either he goes earlier and pushes a potential D-man our way or we get him. I can live with either as long as he stays a possible player for next season. If he is stuck for 2 more seasons, he likely slides.

Plus this could potentially penalize the teams that tank even more by bumping them down even further.

Hopefully Shinkaruk and Fucale both go off the board in the top-10. That would basically guarantee that two defenseman fall to the Flyers.

Frederik Gauthier? Yeah, I've watched a lot of video on him. He's probably the best defensive forward in this draft. He's already 210 pounds and is very agile on his feet. He's a great skater, but his offensive game needs work. It's coming around, but he can probably use another season or two at the QMJHL to work on his offensive game. He's also a bigger player, so you're looking at about 3 to 4 years at the NHL before his game really translates.

In terms of development path, it really varies. If he doesn't become an offensive player, at the very least, you've got a Martin Hanzal type player on your hands. If Gauthier develops an offensive game, he could be a Patrice Bergeron type of player. He really has excellent offensive upside though, so it's very possible he can reach that ceiling.
