Button is retarded when it comes to everything else except prospects.

I don't know RS's opinion about him, but he gets my respect when he talks about prospects.

As ****** as the Avs defence is, the under 25 core is/could be pretty impressive:

Jones-EJ
Seimens-Barrie
______-Elliott

*Provided Avs pick Jones.

First things first....WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

Now this:
Came here to post this. There is a real good chance that we'll get to see the top 3 guys in action, in the memorial cup tournament in a few weeks. Portland just needs to take out the winner of Game 7 between the hitmen and oil kings and Halifax are facing Baie-Comeau in the QMJHL final starting Friday. I don't think it's ever happened before that #1,2,3 ranked prospects make it to the mem cup.

Mueller or Petan are still my #1 picks in the second round. Regardless of who we take #1 overall.

Definitely think the Mem Cup can still change things. I think the choice between Jones/Drouin/MacKinnon is way closer than people keep claiming. Still don't now why Jones is a tier above the two Halifax players, all three have impressed me whenever I've seen them play.

Sure. We're talking about proffesional scouts here- not some casual fan that just has to look on the internet to see whose ranked #1 to base their decision off of.

That said, I think they're probably making cases on each of the top 3 but it would take a pretty big domination by the pair for the scouts to consider dropping Jones down a rank or 2.

Yeah I'm one of those people and been vocal about it in a few posts. At this point I would just love for everybody to pump his tires and explain why it'll be an amazing pick. Feels like people are in love with him because our lack of D, you have to go BPA when your picking first overall. Accepting Jones will be an Av and would rather be converted as opposed to what one of those ****** bags that cries about getting another player when having the top pick

Do people feel 5 years from now he'll be the best player in the draft? Would sting if Mac or Drouin became a Stamkos or Patrick Kane level player while Jones was Erik Johnson 2.0.

Are we getting a superstar? ... Where would he got the past few drafts?

If it's Jones, trade EJ for a scoring winger?

Funniest part of this whole situation? There is no story on the Denver Post and we're at, what, 20-30 minutes after the lottery?

Button probably watches more games with prospects than any pundit out there. He might have his own ideas but no one can accuse him of not doing his homework.

If we get Jones, hope he is either groomed to be the LD to EJ, or paired with Hejda and allowed to roam

Nah. I would keep EJ. Im really curious to see how he plays with a new coach. The potential of having him and Jones to anchor our D-corp has got me giddy

So that means we have to deal with Jay-Z and a diehard Redwings fan who will bolt to Detroit as fast as he can??
