A Joe Thornton or Ryan Getzlaf type player will do wonders for this team.

the only negative i have of barkov is i would really like to have a just goal scorer and that's it. stamkos like.. drouin would fit this mold better.. patrick kane comparison is spot on imo. i think our truly inept depth at center makes poile choose barkov over drouin. wilson will certainly stay at wing imho.. and tampa taking nurse is a pipe dream. they take the leftover of mac/drouin.. or maybe nichushkin .. another defenseman will not be taken till the #6-10 range.

Will TSN interview the Preds draft choice this time. So far the only time They have is when they thought the team was moving to Hamilton. It will be the first time they don't interview a top five pick. Also it was nice to see Poile was not happy with being on the lottery show.

and dont discount forsberg.. even with his lack of NA ice time, he was still clearly our best forward with the puck. i fully expect this guy to be a 65-70 point contributor in 2-3 years .. there will be growing pains. poile knows this though.. and has already stated we WILL add a skilled top 6 forward.. lots to look forward with this franchise guys. loving beck in the top 6 too

So in the last two months, we've added Forsberg and (probably) Barkov, who could easily be the two best forwards to ever play for us (at the time they played for us, not in their primes). Between those two, Weber, Rinne, Wilson, Josi, Beck, etc...the future is bright here.

We really need a few of Ekholm, Aberg, Watson, Sissons, Leipsic, and Vesey to turn out well too.

Is it just me, or to Wilson, Barkov, and Forsberg all seem to compliment each other well?

If there is anyone trade on draft day, I see it being this: Carolina trades up to #3 and drafts Drouin. We take Barkov. Tampa takes Nich at #5.

Drouin-Staal-Skinner
Semin-Staal-Tlusty

Not saying it will, but if a deal happens, that's how I see it going down.

Random facts about Barky:

-He's 6'3", 205. Big boy
-"Aleksander Barkov Jr." His dad -same name, without the jr) was a Russian hockey player
-youngest player to EVER score a point in SM Liiga
-2nd youngest player to ever score a goal at the WJC (16 years, 4 months)

Not very. Skating and foot speed are his weak points.

We haven't even drafted this kid yet(and I wouldn't be surprised if we took Lindholm instead) and already people are pissing on him as another Legwand?

not gonna set the ice on fire lol.. but from all accounts, he has really worked on that aspect and should be fine. joe thorntons skating doesn't affect him with his vision and offensive abilities. once barkov matures a bit, his leg strength should improve along with skating. skating can be taught but raw skill can't.

A very calm center who uses his vision well, Barkov has an excellent offensive game and good size. His very good passing and puckhandling combined with great hands and hockey sense make him a big offensive threat. He plays with high confidence and never seems to be under pressure. Barkov is a creative with a very solid overall package and the skill set to compensate for his below-average skating, making him one of the top prospects for the 2013 NHL Draft. I think he'll be ok. It's something he should and will work on, but I'll take a slower guy with vision and skill over a speedy guy that can't score. We have numerous of those.

The more I hear, the more I think Jumbo Joe.

In other words, the Sedins are three weeks short of being a full year older than Barkov at the time of these statistics, and so the proper comparison between Barkov and the Sedins is Barkov’s draft year versus the Sedins’ pre-draft season. At the same age as Barkov (48 pts in 52 games), Daniel Sedin recorded 13 points in 45 games in the Elitserien; Henrik Sedin recorded five points in 39 contests.

I'm just so thrilled we are in top four still! After top five it drops off so much and the fifth is the Russian who poile wouldn't want anyways. So we take whoever is left of Mack jones barkov or drouin. I'm so fine with that!! Barks is probably the guy and he is a beast!!

Now I'm so attached to Barkov that I will be sad if we don't take him.

I swear, if we trade down...

Same here. The more I read up on him, the more I like him.

Of course, anybody in the top 4 is fine with me, and I wouldn't be upset if we had lost the lottery and picked Lindholm, or got an Eriksson type roster player. We really don't have that many options to screw up here.

Man so happy for you guys, Barkov is gonna be elite in the west.

If Barkov starts next year, I can see:

Duo's is the best way to increase offence.

XXXXX-Barkov-Wilson
XXXXX-Fisher-Forsberg

probably need one more good draft, but FA signings can fill the holes too.

Hornqvist, Beck, and Bourque can all fight for those two spots. That leaves one of those three, Legwand, and SK as our 3rd line, and Hali-Goose-Spals as our 4th. Clune/Yip/Butler for depth.

EDIT: And I forgot Smith, throw him in there somewhere.

That's a decent roster, and free agency can only make it better. I'm definetly setting my sights on Horton or Clowe. Hornqvist and one of those two would be perfect on those other wings as a net presence. Stalberg is a great 3rd liner as well.

His English is rather poor at the moment, he understands it well but can't speak very well at all. So unless he works on it before the Draft, they might use a translator.

Yes, he injured his shoulder in game 4 of the SM-Liiga quarterfinals. He's said he'd be fit by the time the NHL training camps begin. Most likely won't be able to do much at the Combine.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling Smith gets moved. Poile is going to be looking for a veteran to replace Erat, so move Smith, Ellis, 2013 3rd and 2014 2nd for Vanek.

Make your top 3 lines out of Vanek, Wilson, Forsberg, Barkov, Fisher, Legwand, Beck, GB, and Horny.
