I still dont understand why you would want to build your team around injury prone wingers and bottom pairing defencemen, can someone explain this to me?

If you guys still had Beauchemin you would most likely be playing Montreal First round, heck you'd even have home ice advantage for the first round!

Not sure a Flames fans should be speaking on properly built teams. I'd do Lupul for Beauchemin alone.

Calgary fans shouldn't be able to tell other fanbases how to build their teams.

Good god.
So your argument is that other players have had poor sophomore years, and that means Gardiner is absolved of blame and immune from criticism?

No, instead, we build our team around number 1 defenseman who are traded for in exchange of Stajan, Hagman, White and Mayers . Seriously though, I love how Gardiner, who was considered a great prospect, is now a bottom pairing d-man, and Lupul's injuries this year have been rather fluky. They are concerning; but nothing more than flukes.

Gardiner and Lupul would be the best players on your team.

So because his favorite team builds their team poorly, he doesn't know how to? Read what you're saying before you click the post button

Well Buffalo has never had Beauchemin so I can't reply to that. He didn't do well in the East, send him back to the West and get value for him. Big whoop.

Phaneuf is definitely not a number one, a number two sure but not a number one

Ironically, Stajan has put in more games than Lupul has.

For the games he would play, sure. but what does it matter if he plays 1/4 of the season?

If anything, Flames fans are experts on poorly built teams.

Notsureifserious.

My argument is Gardiner plays an amazing 75 game season and has a rocky 12 game season...and somehow Gardiner is a joke.

Really? This seems realistic to you?

Please feel free to respond to this post Id love to hear how anyone on this board can even argue that.

Wasn't this thread about the Lupul-Gardiner trade? Can we please get it back on topic? It's an interesting discussion, really, and it's nice to hear opposing viewpoints on the matter.

TS is right, what a horrible mistake on the Leafs part.

You think if they beg, the Ducks will take Gardiner and Lupul back for Beauch?

I disagree. Lupul has been good enough to call it a draw with how well Beauchemin has been. Depending on how good Gardiner is will say who wins.

Even if we lose the trade, I still think it was a good trade to make for us because it still made us a better team then and now.

You guys just need to ask who would you go to war with out of those three?

I think we all know the answer.

Watch Beauchemin play before making that statement

So, Beauchemin is a #1 but Phaneuf is not? LOL, quit while you're ahead, bud.

The hate for the Leafs on this site is hilarious, and people like you are contributing to it's downfall. Daft.

What a joke of a thread. Yeah who needs an allstar ppg winger, who got injured from a DION PHANEUF slapshot, and a shoulder to the head. Both would have injured any player.

Also yeah while were at it, lets just write off everything Gardiner did last season and label him as a bust..
