i dont know why they even try to hold on to sensibility at all. just throw 14 balls in for the 14 teams and draw them on the first day of the draft. colorado cares sure but wouldnt it be better to have guaranteed interest from 11 markets tracking all the top players instead? instead the dihards will watch and everyone else will wait for the marketing guys to tell em who we got

I would also like to add that they should drop the Uncle Fester looking guy and have the hot chick who was putting up the teams on the board read them out.

Bob McKenzie's top 10 prospect rankings on TSN:

http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=93505

His "top 10" is actually a top 12, since he has two players tied for 10th (and one of them is Nurse) and gives honorable mention to Domi. So I would call that a top 12. But I'm not Bob McKenzie.

Happy for Colorado. Glad Edmonton, Tampa, Jersey and Buffalo didn't win.

I would love for Nurse or Risto to fall. As much as I think Nurse may be the better player in 2-4 years, Risto would be able to step in right away and have Timmo take him under his wing. Reality is Homer takes BPA which our luck will be another center.

Worst case... Couturier+ will be traded for a stop gap defender who isn't our D savior and we are at the same place for the start of the season.

Edit: Really do not want Shinkaruk or Domi. G isn't the biggest of guys and I would like more size for our front line once Hartnell is gone in a couple years. Also do not want to deal with Nichushkin and the Russian contract.

I think we are one of the few teams that wont be scared off by the nischuskian contract. We are loaded on forward and can afford to wait 2 years.

I only saw the 'highlight' of the card turning on TSN. Did the Oiler representative pull a Kanye when the Avalanche card got turned?

I don't see Fucale going in the top 10 but if he does I would guess New Jersey and Buffalo would be the likely candidates to do so.

Agreed. I don't see a lottery team (except for Colorado and Calgary with a secondary pick) picking Fucale with all the skater talent available.

Where is the rumor that we want Zykov coming from? I've also seen us linked to a few other prospects on this board like Nurse and Nichuskin. The Nurse one just seems like speculation because our scout said he's a good player....what else was he supposed to say? Anyone help me out?

Would Jordan Subban fall to us in the 2nd round... he is ranked top 40 on a few lists - don't know much about him, other than the obvious...

He is small but have been reading he can skate and move the puck. True?

Edit: ranked 40-50...Madison Bowey - I haven't ever heard of him.

2nd edit: More than anything I want (and most I think) a Right handed shot D man.... Pulock if the others are gone? I want the playoffs to be over and the draft to be here.

He might be available when we're picking in the second round. Yes, he's a good skater and a good puck mover. His size probably holds him back at this point also.

Subban can really move and has dome good hands but he gets pushed around real easy.

Saw Bowey in the U-18's. He's big if a little raw.

I'm hoping we grab Ristolainen or Shinkaruk if Nurse is off the board.

“Our guys are comfortable,” Flyers director of hockey operations Chris Pryor said. “No. 1’s a good pick, but there are a lot of good players this year. We do know it’s a strong draft class. We’re excited about that.”

“I think it’s fair to say there’s a group of four or five guys that we feel could potentially be there, but you never know,” said Pryor, who was in Sochi, Russia last week scouting the World Under-18 Hockey Championships. “If you look at all these mock drafts, you’re going to see it’s a pretty strong group of defensemen. It’s safe to say that potentially we could be looking at a defenseman. We’ll have our meetings in June and get this thing in some sort of order.”

Here are the D rankings (after Jones):

McKenzie:

8. Ristolainen
9. Zadorov
T-10. Nurse

Button:

6. Nurse
11. Zadorov
15. Morrissey
20. Ristolainen
25. Pulock

CS NA:

4. Nurse
9. Mueller
11. Theodore
12. Pulock
14. Bigras
22. Zadorov

CS Int:

4. Ristolainen
8. Hagg

ISS:

6. Nurse
7. Zadorov
11. Ristolainen
14. Pulock
19. Morrissey

RedLine (March):

8. Nurse
9. Ristolainen
Zadorov (Rising)
Pulock (Falling)

McKeen's (March):

6. Pulock
9. Nurse
11. Ristolainen
15. Mueller
16. Hagg
17. Zadorov

Oh, I don't expect it to happen. I'd just like it to happen.

It isn't completely implausible. By most accounts, NJD held on to their pick last year because they believed that either Subban or Vasilevsky would slip.

I've talked with a few scouts and the interest in Zykov is legit. Simon Nolet, their Quebec scout, is a huge fan of Zykov and Nolet's words carry a lot of weight within the organization. Nolet likes his size, finishing ability, skating, and he's a great team guy (one of the most important factors the Flyers look for in players).

I don't understand why people are so surprised about the Flyers liking Zykov. I read a lot about how the Flyers don't like Russians, but this is a kid who left Russia to come to North America because he wants to play in the NHL, and he plays a power forward style of game.

How this idiot still has a job with TSN in a hockey role amazes me. Ristolainen as the 25th best player in the draft? Where does he come up with this crap? No wonder why the guy doesn't have a job in the NHL. Just a loss for words with the man's evaluation of talent.

So, I think we can agree that the top-4 is almost certainly going to go:
Quote:
1. COL - Jones
2. FLA - Mackinnon
3. TLB - Drouin
4. NSH - Barkov
Intrigue starts at #5. Canes fans seem to think that Monahan will be the pick--though some want Nichushkin and others want Nurse.

I think Lindholm goes #6 to CGY either way--and then whichever of Monahan or Nurse is still on the board goes to Edmonton. Nichushkin could slip to either Buffalo or New Jersey.

I honestly don't know. It all depends on if someone takes a chance on Nichushkin (which I can see a guy like Yzerman doing). If that happens, then all bets are off as to who goes where.

Eh, I think TBL might have done that at 4--but I can't see them passing up Drouin for Nichushkin, and there's no way Nashville takes Nichushkin after the Radulov debacle.

I'll be ****ing pissed if the Lightning get Drouin. Replace MSL with the next MSL.

Here's what I would say would be a top ten (plus 11 for the Flyers drafting)

Colorado Avalanche - Jones
Florida Panthers - MacKinnon
Tampa Bay Lightning - Drouin
Nashville Predators - Barkov
Carolina Hurricanes - Lindholm
Calgary Flames - Nichushkin
Edmonton Oilers - Nurse
Buffalo Sabres - Monahan
New Jersey Devils - Shinkaruk
Dallas Stars - Ristolainen
Philadelphia Flyers - Zadorov

Certainly possible, but I don't see Calgary taking Nichushkin--particularly not if Monahan is on the board. I'm not sure Feater can afford to wait two years for something to show from the draft (not after picking a long-term project in Jankowski last year).

Do you think the Devils will consider reaching for Fucale with their pick since they only have Wedgewood in their rankings (that I know of), or will they go with one of the lesser goalies like Siönäs or Comrie in the second round?
