I guess it's Patty by default. Nobody had a really good year.

I honestly thought Bernier had the best year. I also can't believe I just typed that.

I guess you can make a good case for Bernier. Guys like Elias, Zajac, Clarkson and even Kovy were invisible a lot of games, whereas you always noticed Bernier when he's on the ice.

If the question was "best forward in their role", I might have voted for Bernier. But I had to go with Elias for "best forward."

Went with Carter 'cos he was the most consistent in his assigned role night after night. Bernier had that stretch where he made up for some of the offensive slack, but didn't do much before or after that stretch.

If it's a matter of exceeding expectations or hopes, then I'd go with Loki.

I agree on his thoughts of Kovalchuk to an extent. I don't think this was close to what Kovalchuk could've played, and he admittedly didn't have a strong season. I was looking for more from him to be honest.

But yes, Bernier had the best season for what it is expected of each player. Elias had the best season as the best forward, but still, Elias could've been better. Same goes for Kovalchuk who is likely the second best forward, but he definitely could've been better.

Bernier, to me, played above and beyond expectations and was one of the best forwards consistently, along with Carter. Gionta as well.

Elias by far. To think we'd still be able to rely on him like this at 37 is unbelievable.

He's been disappointing but to say his attitude was an issue isn't serious. People are overreacting over the last game against the Rangers. A game where it seems obvious, at least to me, that someone told the team to not necessarily put the greatest effort out there.

That game was terrible, as was the game the week before at MSG. Say what you want about Moose, but he was one of the only ones trying. 2 shorthanded breakaways again, and one a goal. Bad turnovers in the slot, some of the worst defense of the season at even strength.

Most of these guys underachieved significantly.

Poll should be: "Which forward sucked the least?"

One bright spot to end the season was that Zajac got 6 points in the last 8 games. Not including the season finale against the Rangers since we were not only shutout, but the whole team failed to show up.

The only games he got no points in 8 of the last 9 were the two shutouts back to back against Ottawa, and Toronto, and the 4-1 loss at MSG.

Toss up between Bernier and Carter for me, went with Carter in the end.

If you asked after the first month of the season it was Elias hands down, then he started drop passing to nobody, and trying to do cross ice passes through 50 legs and I got annoyed.

Bernier is not being paid $6M per season and also exceeded expectations. Elias was nowhere to be seen for weeks when Kovalchuk was down. The team needed his leadership and his career 0.9 PPG. But Elias was a ghost out there. And he started to re-produce the day Kovalchuk came back. Our 2 best forwards on paper are a big disappointment.

Elias had 8 even strength goals, 5 PP and 1 SHG in 48 games with 118 shots.
Kovy had 5 even strength goals, 2 PP and 4 SHG in 37 games with 123 shots.
Loktionov had 7 even strength goals, 1 PP and 0 SHG in 28 games with 47 shots.

Kovy has become a special teams scorer almost exclusively and then it's mostly short handed. Bernier, Clarkson, Carter, Henrique and Loktionov had more even strength goals than Kovy. Missing 11 games should not mean everyone passes your #1 sniper on the scoring chart. Loktionov did it in 9 less games to boot.

Nobody had a good year and Elias put up the best numbers and managed to be one of the brighter spots. Loktionov will be my #2 vote for sure.

Absolutely, but a disappointing 1st liner is still better than an impressive 3rd liner.

I'm super proud of everything Bernier did this year but he's just not in the same league as Kovy or Elias. Patty had a bad year and still doubled Bernier in points.
