So, we have unanimity? At least among three of us?

Cheers,

I think so. Tomorrow I'll make a thread announcing the meet-up and gauge the interest from the rest of the board. Hell, I'd still be down for meeting up even if it's just the 3 of us.

I've negotiated a reprieve from duties that evening, so I'm doing something that night.

Cheers,

Anyone know of a good place in Manhattan to watch Friday's Game 2? I've got a thing in the city I'm trying to make it to that night.

Somewhere south of Grand Central Station, and preferably as close to Soho/Chinatown as possible. An Islanders or hockey-devoted bar (one that wouldn't be so devoted to the Rangers that I'd get crap for requesting the Isles game) would be a dream.

Off the top of my head Kelly's Sports Bar on Avenue A right off of Houston would probably be a good place to go. Its traditionally a Sabres bar and they usually have hockey on in there. Considering Buffalo isn't in the playoffs I would think its a much better alternative to going to any Rags bar in Manhattan.

It's weird that there are no Islander bars but I know of a bar dedicated to Philly sports, it's called Wogies and is 2 or 3 subway stops from MSG (great cheese steaks, good bartenders) and I've definitely read an article about a Caps bar in the city. Hopefully soon there will be some established Islanders bars.

dude that place is like rags bar mecca!! Obviously cause its right by msg, but there's rags pics everywhere and even raggie symbols in the stain glass. Since its a hockey bar they'll have hockey but its 100% rags....

Unfortunately, there's not much or any Isles bars in nyc, at least that I know of. I think when we get to BK that might change a bit or at least we'll get some places in the BK...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll check out Kelly's or Wogie's. I've been to the Flying Puck before concerts at MSG -- great place, but would like to avoid a Ranger bar if at all possible.

Blue Moon is gone. Was an intense Buffalo bar when it was there.

Stout is seriously the best bar in Manhattan. I don't like that it's located right next to MSG as I'm rarely there. However when you're seeing an event at MSG this is 100000% the place to go to. Immensely big, good service, best bar food I've ever had, and best beer selection in Manhattan.

The only problem is that a few years ago it was quiet. Now the secret is out and the place gets jammed during that 5-8 period just before a game/concert at MSG. Still it's a must.

bumping an old thread to try to reach out to other manhattan-based isles fans; if there's enough of us maybe we could meet up at a bar for some games

I'm in the financial district but if people are meeting up, I'll see if I can make it, count me in as tentative.

Stranger and I are both downtown as well. My office is in TriBeCa and he's at World Financial; so we're both down to catch a few road games in our neck of the woods.

He was talking about Stone Street, which is probably even better for you; but I'd be down for that anytime.

We should set up a few away game viewing parties.

West Village is excellent though, so you won't hear me arguing if that's where you want to go.

i'd be open to meeting some of you guys. I live in midtown east but work in Union Square. I usually watch the games at home with my roomates who are apathetic to hockey so i'd definitely be interested in this.

I'm on the UWS. I watched a couple of playoff games in 07' at Blondies - they turned the sound on for us - but other than that, I don't know of any consistent hockey/Islander bars.

If there is enough interest for a Manhattan get together, I would happily join. My son is 7 and he had a large chunk of the PS 199 Kindergarden class rooting for the Isles. Sadly most of their fathers got a hold of them and re-converted them by the time they got to first grade.

How do you guys find these old threads to bump? No one would shoot you if you just started a new one...

Anyway I live in the UWS and work in real estate so my office is Manhattan. If we can take over a place to watch games and get it known for being an Isles bar, that would be awesome.

The key is that they have good viewing angles and good sound.

Windy City Ale House in Bay Ridge is a big time hockey bar, They are more geared towards Blackhawks and Rangers fans as those are the crowds that show up, but I know they get quite a few Isles fans from time to time,

I found this link when I googled "Islanders bar in NYC"
