If it is true that Gardiner may start in the playoffs, then perhaps Carlyle feels that Gardiner in the lineup gives him a better chance to win against Boston. And maybe he didn't play him against the teams down the stretch because he felt others were better against those teams. I don't really know and am just offering up one possble explanation.

Gardiner was great in that back-to-back vs. Boston, so hopefully he's plugged in there with Johnny.

Phaneuf - Yandle
Gardiner - Franson
Rielly - Percy
Fraser
Blacker
Finn
Nilsson
MacWilliam
we dont need more D... we need to trade D away for Center help... that is our only whole and our major asset to trade is either Gards or Rielly.... and i would keep Rielly

Agreed. Would Colorado look at a trade like Gardiner for one of their young centers?

Possible but with 1st pick and Seth Jones up for grabs they might keep what they have.

Gardiner's PP assist on Lupul's goal was awesome, he froze all 4 PKers and saw Lupul open, giving him the amazing pass for an easy goal

I think he will be either kept due to Liles being movied or bought out, or traded for a good first rounder+ or a deal for a stay at home Dman that could play top 4(or top 2) pairing minutes.

Gardiner has a future in the NHL but it shouldn't be on our team. Trade him. We already have Rielly, a left hand shot and PP specialist. We don't need a lesser version of that when we could upgrade our forwards.

I'm hoping Gardiner is in and JM Liles is out before the Leafs playoffs are over.

That's what I think. He's probably looked upon favorably by other GM's so see what's out there

I hope he stays a Leaf because if he doesn't, I think we are really going to regret it. Kadri wasn't built in a day either.

well the thing is it will be a lateral move, aka jvr for schenn where we will get a similar player back in a more pressing need for us aka center aka someone like sean couterier

I don't think having Reily makes Gardiner expendable. Having too many PMDs is a good thing, considering that our current d core shows little to nothing transition game.

That's what we should tell the other GM's....and see if they offer anything enticing.

Yea....no.

Kadri, Tlusty, Holzer, Komarov, Frattin, Gardiner, Colborne, Couture, Pavelski, Demers, Mcginn and so on....all of them are NHL or close to being NHL players who are regulars. Want to know the interesting fact? Each one of them are different players, different drafted years and took different paths, do you know why they are contributors in their teams? Patience, they took their own time and terms. They are all drafted in different rounds as well.

Take a step back and stop wanting to press the red button.

The red button would be selling Gardiner for cheap.

The green button would be selling him for a player that better improves our team.

As Getzlaff said about Carlyle if your looking for a best friend it's probably not going to be Randy but if you want to become a better player you should listen to what he say's.

He's a top-prospect that had a rough year, Imagine if all teams were so quick to react...
