The Oilers are better off trading up and getting Alex Barkov.

My money would be on the Sabres calling; Regier has made it abundantly clear that the Sabres need to get elite talent. That being said, I don't see why the Predators would trade this pick.

I'll be pissed if we trade away a guaranteed pick for Barkov, unless something really nice is coming back.

I think a bigger rumor would be nobody calls <fill in team> about their top 10 pick

I've seen it speculated/rumored a couple places today that the player Nashville might really be interested in is Elias Lindholm. If that's true, Nashville could probably flip their pick with someone like Buffalo or New Jersey, still get the player they want, and pick up additional assets.

Oilers should move down a few spots and take Nurse. At this point they need to draft out of need. So do the Preds but they're in a much, much better position given the gap between where Jones and other D will be drafted. I wouldn't move this pick at all If I'm Nashville. You finally get a shot at franchise changing forward, you make your selection and don't look back.

Nah, the Oilers don't need to be giving up any assets to acquire more young forwards. The Oilers need defencemen or players to play now. Sam Gagner's not going anywhere, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins isn't going anywhere, why would Edmonton add another center?!

Unless Nashville wants defense, they would be stupid to trade down. My guess is the top 6 forwards will be picked in the top 7(maybe 8 if people shy away from the Russian)

They might want a center with size.

Calgary may covet Barkov.

Depends if Monahan + a little bit is enough to pass up the big Fin.

And the Oilers wouldn't improve with that. They have young scoring phenoms. Plenty of them. They don't need Barkov.

The Oilers do need Barkov. If you actually were to watch the Oilers play, you would agree that they need a better number #2 Centerman.

The Flames don't have the assets? To move up 2 spots in the draft? It would cost Baertschi, you say?

Well it's obviously not going to happen, but I really don't want the preds to trade out of the elite-near elite top 4 only to pick up a late 1st or high 2nd. Totally unrealistic, but I really would like an elite forward for once.

Historically, trading from the top 10 usually yields a 2nd + a 3rd. Or an okay player/prospect. Certainly not an elte prospect like baerteschi. I'm just saying the preds need a forward who won't top out at 50 points.

Be prepared to pony up then.

MTL 1st + Patches might get the conversation started.

Let me see here. Hall, Eberle, RNH, and Yakupov are the only legit young stars on forward. As far as I know there are 6 players on the top 2 lines. They only have 1 legit dman and that's J. Schultz. You need at least 3 offensive dmen. No one in net.

I heard just the opposite, that they would take Barkov ahead of basically anyone not named Mackinnon or Jones.
