so I'm watching psycho pass and quite enjoying it. only problem is it reminds me of an anime I can't remember... could be just deja vu but I'm not thinking it is. it could actually be two different anime so...
the characteristics that are familiar are:
the atmosphere-dark grittyish forlorn but not particularly guesome or depressing
the characters- I can't quite remember this but I recall the main character being similarly quiet/muted and there being some sort of partnership
the serialness- I believe it was mostly serial with episodes that had individual plot that led up to something (okay quite common in anime)
revolutionaries or something- might have dreamt this but I recall a similar digital chatroom style or something where characters meet and there was some sort of plotting
utopian society- the kind that always feels empty
conspiracy- possibly with the people they are working with
things that come close:
Sword art online
.hack// (couldn't tell you which one)
some story archs in Gintama
Durarara (only saw a few episodes so it might change)
Full Metal Panic
things that it isn't quite like despite having similarities
Fairy Tail(on occasion)
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
Final Fantasy 13
Star Wars Bounty Hunter
Mass Effect (the atmosphere of the Citadel)
Things that aren't similar at all
Eden of the East
Final Fantasy 7 + the rest that I have seen/played
Legend of zelda games
Ghost in the Shell (from the episode and a half that I have seen)
Welp. Time for the resurrection. Spring Season started and I guess I'll give my initial impressions as I start watching. Just to keep this alive!
Will update the OP soon enough.
But first things first.
Oreimo Season 2. Probably the most anticipated show of the season because let's be honest the girls are cute.
First episode started slow with Kirino back from the USA which was detailed in the true end of the first season. Not much happening honestly, new OP song is catchy as can be expected from ClariS. Artwork is adorable as always. Also, yay! Kuroneko! That is all.
Just watched the first episode of Hataraku Maou-sama! and I think it's a keeper. Very funny show, I don't think I've ever seen a character so excited to get hired to a full time worker at MgRonalds (Anime shows favorite habit is to change up McDonalds restaurant name to avoid lawsuits), and the fact that he was a former Demon Lord makes it very entertaining.
I've read what there was in English for Date A Live and I still want to kill his sister. Some people like her, but honestly, think of the whole idea that everything and everyone, including your own sister was a ****ing lie. If anything, the main character needs to grow a pair of balls to stand up to his sister.
Samurai Bride had an interesting first episode.
Oreimo S2 first episode was slow, but I liked it.
I've been reading Photokano, but haven't watched it yet.
I really liked the first episode of Suisei no Gargantia. I'm going to keep up with that. Mainly because it's essentially "main character in unknown land/alternative universe" sort of stuff, and I like that (like Zero no Tsukaima).
