No doubt, I'd be up for going back out again.

Zharkov picks up a second assist on the PP as Belleville goes up 1-0 in game 7.

So might we see him sign an ATO and join OKC?

It's my belief that the #Oilers will not sign @BigosK but will invite him to main camp if not signed by someone else by then. @tpsdean

Very interesting, not all that surprising.

I assume some won't like this but with the log jam coming to the OKC blueline there isn't really room for him.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me if that's the case.

If they're worried about the contract limit/space in OKC, why wouldn't they just not tender a QO to Plante and replace him with Bigos?

It's not like OKC is stacked with right-handed defenseman either. It's just Teubert, Plante and Fedun.

Every Oilers defenseman prospect not in the AHL(Klefbom, Simpson, Laleggia, Gustafsson) shoots left too.

Weird decision.

Shame, I always liked him as a long shot. But I guess when you are at the contract limit, decisions need to be made.

I hope we can cut some dead weight loose soon.

I don't think Plante will be back regardless. As for the RHD issue, I figure they'll probably want to sign some AHL vets for the defense. As it stands now, it's going to be very young and inexperienced. Or better yet, Potter spends the year in OKC.

I think they have a realistic view of Bigos' upside, which is not very high.
OKC next season will likely feature:
Marincin
Musil
Gernat
Davidson

likely Teubert and Fedun, and, maybe Klefbom.

There's simply not a lot of space.

We'd likely bring Bigos up through Stockton.

Can any of those guys up top other than Gernat play the right side though?

Seems like the logjam is going to be on the left side. Especially if they want to bring in any AHL vets.

Does anyone know if they are planning to sign him? And/or if they might switch him to forward? (I would)

Thanks Guy, I really need to read gooder.

What do you think about a conversion to forward with Bigos?

Question:

Does anyone here hold their nose up to Rajala's success in the AHL because of his size?

Another way of asking is: Would anyone be more excited if he was 6'2 215?

Because of his size, do we kind of write him off? It doesn't seem like, with his success, he's getting any credit whatsoever.

Even better is how he turned up his game for the playoffs. He had 8 points in 5 games, a +6 and averaged 4.2 shots per game, all of which are higher clips than his regular season numbers.

I'm sure Rajala is on the Oilers radar now. I wonder if he'll get a cup of coffee next season.

Another thing to note with Rajala is that he's now 5'9"/5'10", which is taller than the 5'6" he was drafted at. He's still in the mid-160s for weight, but here's hoping he can add some muscle over the offseason without sacrificing his agility and speed.

Were he to make it to the NHL, he'd be fine weighing in between 175-180 (like Gionta & St Louis) as long as he keeps his advantage in skating. After all, lighter players have a natural advantage in their edge work, agility and so forth.

Well, size matters when transitioning to the NHL--we've seen this movie all too many times before with Schremp and Omark. Doubtful Rajala fares much better in the NHL, though he should definitely get at least a couple games next year, should there be an injury in the top 6.

The immediate difference between Rajala and Omark/Schremp is that Rajala can skate at an NHL level.

However, I agree. I doubt he'll be able to translate his game to the NHL this seamlessly. I hope he gets a few cups, as he has definitely showed he deserves it. Works hard in every league he's ever been in.
