Valeri Nichushkin -
Aleksander Barkov -
Elias Lindholm -
Darnell Nurse -
Rasmus Ristolainen -
Ryan Pulock -
Sean Monahan -

Drouin = Kane/Giroux Hybrid
Mac= Skating reminds me of Bure, plays like Sequin but with more physicality, and Taylor Hall
Jones = 2000's version of Pronger, watered down sort of speak on the physical side compared to Chris

I'm the biggest Jones fan around but comparing him to Pronger is just waaaay off. He doesn't have that mean and physical element on consistent basis like Pronger had. He can lower the boom, but he's not a huge physical player.

I would actually argue that he's closer to Lidstrom then Pronger in regards to comparables.

I still like the Pietrangelo one myself...even Rob Blake is better than a Pronger comparison.

I'll try the players I know:

Valeri Nichushkin - Rick Nash
Aleksander Barkov - Anze Kopitar
Elias Lindholm - Nicklas Backstrom
Darnell Nurse - Dion Phaneuf?
Sean Monahan - Jonathan Toews

Valeri Nichushkin - Rick Nash (big, speedy playmaker who drives the net well and has great hands)
Aleksander Barkov - Anze Kopitar/Joe Thornton type (hulking two-way playmaker, great vision and passing)
Elias Lindholm - Henrik Zetterberg's two-way ability, speed, and playmaking, but more physical.
Sean Monahan - I know people like to say Toews, but I'd say more of an Eric Staal type. More of a playmaker than a shooter, and doesn't have Toews' speed.
Ones I know.

Interesting to compare their playoff stats:
GP G A PTS
Drouin 10 7 17 24
Mackinnon 10 7 16 23
Jones 12 3 6 9

I hope both Portland and Halifax go to the memorial cup, this would be great to see "top 3" play in a tournament.

I've been hoping for Portland/Halifax all year. Nate and Jo are working their playoff magic like last year, at 2.3-2.4 ppg paces. Both teams are hot and seem to be on a collision course.

Who is better physically and who can body someoen better? Mack or Drouin? Because that clip of Drouins shift he completely controls another player rushing him.

MacKinnon- Mix of Seguin/Gaborik
Drouin- Giroux
Jones- Limited viewing but I see a raw version of Pietrangelo with slightly higher upside

Re : Jones

I heard the same comparisons, years ago, between Erik Johnson and Pronger. How did that play out?

I doubt this kid will be anywhere near as good as everyone hopes. Don't believe the hype!!!

Which of those 3 players is likely to step right into the NHL, if any at all.

Valeri Nichushkin - Rick Nash is pretty good comparsion

Aleksander Barkov - Joe Thornton

Elias Lindholm - can't believe I have to do this but Peter Forsberg

Darnell Nurse - haven't seen much

Rasmus Ristolainen - People suggest he has high offencive upside but he really has never shown it so a bigger Barret Jackman.. for now.

Ryan Pulock -

Sean Monahan - Mikko Koivu

I thought that Ristolainen's offensive game was fairly developed, but that his defensive positioning and awareness was in question.

Is that not consistent with your viewings (which I imagine are much more telling that a few Youtube clips and some scouting reports.

hmm my viewing is pretty much the opposite.
Just visited his eliteprospect page and felt like his scouting report must be mixed.

I've seen Mackinnon and Drouin play about 12 times live and more times on tv. I couldn't think of who to compare Mackinnon to other than Tyler Seguin, but like others said Mackinnon is better in the corners/physically but Seguin is more of a sniper. Is that Taylor Hall? So be it.

Drouin is definitely the most like Patrick Kane, i don't know if he'll hit that level in the NHL but that's his upside. His defensive play has really improved on the last year in the Q.

I've only seen Jones once live and 1 or 2 times on tv. To be honest he reminded me of Lidstrom. He's not going to be as good as Lidstrom, so pick an NHLer who plays like Lidstrom but just isn't as good. He is much more Lidstrom than Pronger. Someone said Pietrangelo with a Yandle rush, sounds about right.
