nifty.

He seems to like to score against the north-east teams.

They are pretty damn close however...

All of Toronto's fighters can't play hockey. I give the edge to Boston because their fighters don't hinder their ability to win.

When most of your teams toughness plays ~20 mins a night it makes a huge difference compared to Toronto whose toughness plays a bout 5 and will probably play even less in the playoffs.

Enforcers make teams tough in the regular season but become pretty useless in the playoffs. Bostons closest player to an enforcer is Thornton who skates over 8 minutes a game

I voted Leafs because I've seen a paper soft Bruins team the last 6 weeks. If they play up to their potential, the Leafs will be completely intimidated and out of this series in short order. As other posters have said their toughness is mostly on the 4th line. That said, I don't believe the Bruins are going to play up to their potential and I think the Leafs are going to be the hungrier team.

toughness:

1st lines: JVR-Bozak-Kessel v. Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin - even
2nd lines: Lupul-Grabo-Kuly v. Lucic-Krejci-Horton - Boston
3rd lines: Mac-Kadri-Frattin v. Daugs-Kelly-Jagr - even
4th lines: Komo-McClem-Orr v. Paille-Campbell-Thornton - Toronto

1st Pairs: Gunnar-Phaneuf v. Chara-Seidenberg - Boston
2nd Pairs: Fraser-Franson v. Ference-Boychuk - Toronto
3rd Pairs: Liles-Kostka v. Redden-McQuaid - even

Boston with the toughness advantage, IMO.

Leafs for me. I watched Leafs game vs Philly and they impresed me with their physically play along the boards, they were flying and hitting everything even more than Flyers. I can imagine they will be even more physically now in the play-offs. I would love to see Flyers - Leafs in play-offs once again.

Orr, McLaren, Komarov, McClement, Phaneuf, Kulemin, Kadri, Gunnarsson
vs
Chara, Lucic, Horton, Marchand, Thornton, McQuaid, Seidenberg, Campbell

It's gonna be fun to watch.

Leafs top 6 is not soft in terms of physicality though. Kessel is the weak link, and Bozak is a bit soft (but still goes to the dirty areas), but Kadri, Lupul, Kulemin and JvR all get their hands dirty and can throw their weight around. JvR needs to ramp up his physicality a bit, but the other three are just fine. Kulemin is a beast who uses brute strength to create space and hits frequently and hard, then there's Lupul who is just a complete animal sometimes and goes hard to the net, and then Kadri who is smaller but plays big, throwing big hits and going to the dirty area against bigger guys with no fear.

Orr will play, doubt McLaren will draw in unless needed. Orr has actually become a decent player this year, still a 4th liner and won't be more but he's quite serviceable, he hits hard, goes after the puck hard and throws his weight around quite a bit. He hasn't been a liability at all this year.
Lucic & Horton will both fight in the Regular Season.

Bergeron, Marchand & Krecji have all been in fights, not many but they've fought.

That's 5 of the Top 6, not 1.

Kadri, Lupul, Kessel, van Riemsdyk, Macarthur, Grabovski, McClement, Liles have all been in fights but I still wouldn't really count any of them in the discussion.

Beyond Orr and Frazer I wouldn't consider the Leafs a particularly tough team. And if those 2 guys are playing then the Leafs have much bigger problems to worry about.

If you mean which team is more likely to stay on the body more often, then it's Toronto.

If you mean make a list of fighters and see how deep a team is, then it's Boston. In terms of fighting, it's done by Orr, McLaren and Fraser. In terms of body checking it's done as a whole by the entire leafs.

Boston.

Their toughest player is also their best player (oh yeah he's also a giant of a man and the best warrior int he NHL). Also Lucic/Thornton/Mcquiad/Horton/Boychuk/Campbell...
