Why not? We have a 7.5 million dollar first line center, and a 7.more million dollar second line center. A 6 million dollar third line center would be the icing on the cake

But really, we want defense. We are not short on offense. Probably won't consider many forwards.

This will be TBs offseason right here. They will trade some of their forwards for a Dman at some point. I dont think you need a crystal ball to see it. They have so many forwards ready to come and contribute at the NHL level. I dont know what they are going to do with it all.

Tampa and the Devils could be good trade partners

Connolly and Purcell are worth much more than Blum. We need a RHD too, need a replacement for Salo after next year and a future partner for Hedman.

I think Fayne is a pretty nice upgrade over Brewer. I'd consider it.

Dump Malone on a team that doesn't spend to the cap because his actual salary is only 2.5 million for each of the next two seasons well his cap hit is 4.5 per.

Keep all of Purcell, Connolly and Drouin.

Sign one of Hainsey, Regehr, Ference, White, Scuderi to challenge Brewer and Salo for 2nd pairing minutes.

As much as I'd love connolly on vancouver I agree completely with this post. Trade or buyout malone and try first to sign a D. No need to move forwards until those avenues are exhausted.

You've already posted this on one of the threads. That is overpayment by Tampa and they don't even need Frattin. Why give up Connolly and Purcell if they need a winger? Connolly and Purcell are both better options than Frattin.

Gardiner >> Connolly > Purcell & Frattin

Frattin will be a physical 25, 25 guy imo. Tampa's 2014 1st evens this out

Plus it's jake gardiner, guy is a beast. Enough said

I'd do Tanev for Connolly from a Vancouver perspective but I'm probably in the minority.

Gardiner couldn't crack a spot in a weak Leaf's blue line, and he is offense minded, not what Tampa needs at all.

This is pretty hilarious, I don't know where to even begin. Purcell is currently the best player in this deal, Gardiner and Connolly are even and you say a 1st evens it out.

This.

Purcell is the ONLY player that has proven how good he is and is on a slump year, while still being better than Frattin.

So this trade is:

Purcell >> Frattin
Connolly=Gardiner (he will never be a #1, and Connolly has all the talent to become a true first line winger.)
1rounder >10000000000000000x> 3rd rounder

No person would make this trade

I think people are slightly (but consistently) underrating Connolly. He just scored 30 goals in the AHL as a 19 year old.

If Cory Conacher can come in and light it up offensively for Tampa, I have no doubt in my mind that Connolly will do even better whenever he becomes NHL ready. I really like his game, I would go as far as saying I think his offensive ceiling is higher than anyone else from the 2010 draft besides Hall/Seguin.

If he gets a top 6 spot with the big club next year, he's my sleeper pick for the Calder.

1. Connolly is NHL ready, he just didn't get the chance before Corys trade, because SY first planned to keep him in Syracuse all year long.
2. Connolly isn't a rookie anymore.

But I agree with the rest

I agree about Connolly being underrated. He needs more time to develop. It's way too early to trade him. It'd be like Philly trading JVR and seeing him rip it up right after.

The problem is you can say this about Panik, Connolly and Kucherov all three offer elite talent and could all be first liners in a few years, but this team already has 5 great players in their top6 (Purcell, MSL, SS91, VL4, Killorn) and has Malone, Pouliot, Johnson, Palat that are/ will all be able to play in a top6 role and would be on most teams.
That's 11 guys capable of playing in the top6, of course this is as good as a "problem" can be, but I would prefer one of Kucherov, Connolly or Panik to get us a great defender. Johnson and Palat don't have enough talent to bring us a high-end talented defender and are very good shutdown forwards so I would prefer to have them in the org.
I bet my money, that at least 1, maybe 2 of Purcell, Connolly, Panik, Malone and Pouliot will not be on the team next year.
