Just saw that how cool was that moment. How proud did his dad (Dave) and his mom look. He looked really tall and he has a decent frame already. The kid will play at over 220 pounds easily within the next couple of years.

Great news for Lowry!

We obviously need the Scheifele's and Trouba's, and whomever we pick at 13 this year to turn out, but if you can get a guy or two over a medium timeframe from the 3rd round plus turn out like Lowry, I think that can make a massive difference.

And where did I say that? I think I'll keep this post so that when he isn't a bust , I can use your quote that says he is...

I was just curious how he was used. One could assume that given 1 point in 9 games he wasn't used all that much so that's why I asked. As it turns out he played well, but just didn't put up the numbers. Nothing wrong with that as it's his first go in the AHL...unless he is the bust you claim him to be.

And the Lowry love-in is given more fuel for the fire. He's looking more and more like one of those diamonds in the rough that Chevy likes to look for. I'm excited to see his progression at the pro level.

Oh, I know you weren't calling him a bust.

Calling any 20 year old a bust for not having a fully developed pro game is borderline ********.

...but it still seems to happen a fair bit. Should have used one of these:

People take this place far too seriously sometimes. Not calling anyone out here, but the dependency on emoticons to convey what expression you have is amusing, to say the least. I just assume that anything outlandish is sarcastic or a joke.

Pretty sure there was a Burmistrov inference in Truck's post.

Also Telegin, Scheifele, etc. Many have flippantly written of young players. Puzzling.

That's great for Adam.

He's another great kid and good prospect the Jets have in the fold, and nice to see him get some recognition.

Still needs to put in some more time in the weight room, and fill-out that frame of his, but his potential is certainly exciting.

And remember if he plays a year (or two) in the AHL as he develops, that's not the end of the world either. Same goes for Scheifele and Trouba. The real goal is to have them as productive players ready to step in, when they are ready - like Reds.

I am encouraged by the number of shots Lowry had on goal in STJ even if it is a small sample.

Lowry:
2nd last Jr yr 37 points in 36 games
last year in Jr 88 points in 72 games

in comparison

Tangradi
2nd last JR year 60 points in 56 games
last yr in Jr 88 points in 55 games

Pittsburgh lost patience with Tangradi and shipped him off to us for a 7th rnd pick instead of lossing him on waivers....

There both big players with similiar Jr production..... Im hoping Lowry to use his size all the time and keeps improving his pro game at a more accelerated rate than Tangradi did.....

On the flip side lets give Tangradi a good oportunity at camp next year hoping he blooms a little later than expected.....I thought down the stretch he was quite good paired with Burmistov

based on my bulletproof scientific study, Adam Lowry has a 70% chance of being an NHL'er with a carreer of at least 3 years.

I did this by comparing the number of WHL player of the year winners in a twenty five year span, and comparing the percentage that had 3 years (minimum) careers to those that didn't.

Hooray for lowry!

(edit to clarify my sample size less ridiculous)

Unrelated: just did some looking at eric odell. in a season where so many NHL talents were playing in the AHL he put up very good numbers. I'm definitly feeling like he's a totally underappreciated asset at this point (except to truck who i believe tagged him as his "underdog" prospect of the season)

Lowry is a better skater I think. Tangradi has better danglies. Tangradi has acceleration issues. I don't know if Lowry has the same problem.

He also had a 20% shooting percentage. Next year should tell us how good he really is...

I've never seen his danglies but I'm sure they're very impressive.

grats to Adam and to his parents for raising a seemingly great kid

love love love me some second-gen talent

I remember hearing the Ice Caps pbp guy talking about how impressive his hockey sense is (might have been on an Illegal Curve show)

If I remember correctly, Lowry was an excellent skater before he had his growth spurt. He's since gotten (most of?) his straight ahead speed and acceleration back but still working on lateral movement.
