Darcy Kuemper

It's official. Not good news for Backstrom.

Quote:
Goaltender Niklas Backstrom left warmups in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with a lower-body injury. His status at this time has not be announced. Josh Harding started the game and made 37 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wild have something to rally around.

That should scare the Hawks to death.

As expected. No way he gets any playing time though if Harding can even come close to playing as good as he did last night.

I don't think this means all that much for Backstrom, to be honest...the Wild would have called Kuemper up if there was even a chance Backstrom wasn't going to be ready to go, to avoid a repeat of last night. This move could really be anything from "Backs is probably going to be good to go but they want to wait for a full practice to be sure" to "Backs is out from the season."

I guess Harding will have to stand on his head again

I am scratching my head here, why not let Darcy play tonight in GR and meet the team on Thursday in Chicago?

Would you like a goalie that just played a game the previous night in net during an NHL playoff game?

My bad, misread your post. Thought he plays in GR on Thursday.

Solid backup, wouldn't mind him starting either.
But if Joshy keeps playing like last night, no need for Kuemps.
