Nashville's #4 to Buffalo

Given Poile and Regier's respective comments it's reasonable to speculate they've discussed a potential trade-up.

What would Buffalo have to add to #8 (or #16, I guess) to turn it into #4? Assume nothing is untouchable but the key pieces for the rebuild (Grigorenko/Hodgson/Armia) are overvalued.

It will take a huge overpayment. We have 0 reason to move this pick, since one of Mac/Drouin/Barkov will go a long way toward fixing our scoring woes. Also, the pieces we'd really want are the ones you said are overvalued, which makes it harder.

It'd take #8+Vanek for #4+SK or something. Yes, that is horrific overpayment by Buffalo, but that is what it would take for us to move it. Or, at least, I hope Poile won't move it for less.

Assuming Poille/NSH aren't rebuilding, which I think is a reasonable assumption -- I think they want to build around the franchise players they have in their prime right now in Weber and Rinne -- something around Vanek + 8th/16th for 4th + ???

Would Vanek at half salary + #16 be enough for #4 alone, or with a cap dump?

Ennis and #8 for #4? Vanek and #8 for #4 doesn't give Nashville any insurance if Vanek doesn't stay.

Forgot Vanek only has one year...

I'd do Vanek+8th for 4th+SK if, and only if, we knew we could sign him long term.

The Preds are not in a position to give up a great asset for two good ones, in regards to Ennis and everyone.

I like Myers a lot too, as a side note.

Don't see that being enticing enough to move down that far, to be honest.

If that's the case, where could he fit in to this?

Probably too big of a deal, but...

#4+SK+Blum/Ellis for #8+Vanek+Myers

Too much to move up 4 spots for Blum/Ellis.

I would say no but Blum has a better chance of doing it.

Not a huge fan of Vanek being the main return. Don't think we're close enough to being a contender to justify that move, and too much risk he won't re-sign. Probably more interested in Ennis, but not sure if interested enough to give up drafting Barkov.

I think he means would we change Blum/Ellis to Josi in the deal. If so, absolutely not.

Buffalo may do a small steps

STEP 1 deal MIN #1(16) to NYR (owned by CBS)/SJ/TOR for their #1 (19-21) + 2nd/3rd

STEP 2 with Calgary:

TO BUF: #6 + STL 1st (23)
TO CGY #8 + NYR/SJ/TOR 1st (19-21)

STEP 3 with Nashville

TO BUF: NAS #4 +
TO NAS: BUF #6 + BUF 2nd round pick

To move up 4 spots, I would offer 8 + 55 + 159 and a prospect with offensive upside like Logan Nelson or Colin Jacobs.

Won't get it done probably, but no need to sacrifice more of our future for 4 spots. We didn't tank well enough, move on and select at 8.

I don't see 8 + 38 getting it done, so 8 + 55 and some other fodder most certainly will not get it done.

Yeah I know, I just don't think it's worth it. We know Darcy very well, he will not overpay for something so he'll likely stay at #8.

I would to #8 + 16 + 69. no need to get players involved.

In 2008, the Maple Leafs moved up 2 spots for #7 + #68 + #37 the following year.

So to move up 4 spots I think it would take two firsts and a third. My personal opinion.

If you can get the 4th for the 6th and 2nd, then you dream on Calgary dealing that pick. Hell I'll even offer 2 1st for it but I doubt Nashville will do it. Ps feaster said he won't trade down, and what you offered isn't enough IMO

It would take 8 + 16 for NSH to probably consider it, I could also they them keeping the pick under all circumstances.

But, at the same time giving up 8 + 16 is too rich for me to give up. We could very well be in the mix for Rei hart/Ekblad/Nylander next year.

How is this even close to what Nashville would want? Atrocious for them. I can get behind Ennis+8 for 4 or Vanek at half salary+16+3rd rounder for 4.

Good lord, ill gladly stay at #8 then trade Tyler Ennis or Thomas Vanek to move up 4 spots for a non superstar prospect.

Ennis is already a proven 55 point center who hasn't even reached his full potential. Vanek is a top 10 goal scorer. Either of them to move up 4 spots is a joke. Maybe if it was moving from 5 to 1 it's more reasonable but to move up from 8 to 4? Umm no. Vanek/Ennis + 8th best prospect>>> Barkov.
