On behalf of the Anaheim Ducks, I would like to thank Habsfan18 for hosting a great NHL Draft. With our first pick, 28th overall, the Ducks are proud to select from the OHL's Plymouth Whalers, forward Ryan Hartman.

He is a player we have been watching closely since the new year. We believe he is a future NHL player due to his immense versatility. He can play center or wing, plus in either a scoring or grinding role. He is a phenomenal skater, one of the best in the draft. He plays a fearless game, aggressive on the forecheck, throws his weight around and has no problem with picking up for himself or a teammate. Hartman is a solid, all around player, with big game experience at the U20 WJC. We look forward to having him as a part of our organization.

LOL thanks! His playing style reminds me a bit of Boone Jenner, but not as big. Can play in all situations with a gritty style. I was actually leaning towards Burakowsky because he fills a need for the Ducks prospect pool: skilled LW. Once he was off the board, I thought Hartman was the most intriguing for my pick. Though there are still a lot of nice players left for the early 2nd round.

Oh, and I PMed TinordiandSubban already

The Calgary Flames return to Rimouski, at 29th overall, for D Samuel Morin

GM Jay Feaster says: "Flames just got bigger and a whole lot harder to play against. Sam is a tower of strength in his own end and has started to show some offensive instincts as the year progressed, eventually running the Oceanic powerplay. His size, toughness and mobility makes for a rare prospect with enticing upside, one we are all to happy to invest in."

The Flames have had a good first round. Living in Calgary, I don't have the faith in them to actually pull it off come draft day. They'll **** it up somehow

We are extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to select this smooth skating dman who is also in possession of remarkable poise. His cerebral play and exceptional puck moving skills will surely be an asset on our blueline someday.

I hate you almost as much as I hate the Bruins.

While debating on going for a WHL player.. the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select Andre Burakowsky from Sweden. While the temptation is there to big a gritty player.. the Habs need to add more offensive game breakers to the system and decide that Burakowsky is one of the more highly skilled players left on the board.
I wouldn't mind it if real life follows this at all.

I just picked the three guys I most want the Habs to pick!

Who knows what Feaster will do in reality, he's a wildcard.

Ain't gonna lie, I was starting to lick my chops for a moment there. Really like Hagg.

And screw you too.

So yeah, Chicago was hoping a higher ranked defenseman would slip through the fantasy cracks, and will have to groove on this for a bit.

Damn, we flew through that round! I was hoping for more time to bone up on my second rounders, now I'm starting to sweat.

Keep up the good work, all!

With the final pick of the first round of the 2013 Mock Draft, hosted once again by the great Habsfan18, the Chicago Blackhawks select defenseman Shea Theodore of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.

"Simply put, this guy is an incredible puck-mover with a pretty heavy shot as well. Made great strides defensively, despite being on a collectively weak Seattle team, as he grew/bulked up and gained some experience. He has also worked a lot on his shot and it shows. He's already drawing comparisons to another former late 1st rounder, Mike Green, and has already had plenty of success in the spot light as a Winter Games, Hlinka, and U18 gold medalist. We think teams will look back in a few years and wonder how they passed on him."

(Watsatheo PM'd - And peace out for a while. Catch you all in a week or two for my next pick, lol.)

I almost drafted a goalie, believe it or not, until I realized he was still on the board, lol.

Still a select 5-6 players that imo could all go in the 1st round base on reports I've read. This draft is so friggn deep, wow.

Great work guys.

With the 31st overall pick, the Panthers select Morgan Klimchuk.

We are happy to get this good skating forward that can already play a complete game. Has had an impressive U18 for Canada.

Really like this kid, had his name typed in three times at my pick and went back to Morin finally, couldn't pass on that skill and size and calmness.

I confess Craig Buttons' mock draft tipped the scales in the end:
