Yip, or rather they could win the series, problem is the big names have not shown up in a while, Sharks have the edge now big time since they have been so good at home.

That wouldn't surprise me, but I'd rather get confirmation before throwing around accusations like that. Video?

Yeah, Drew chose a really bad time to go super-ultra-homer.

Don't see how the Canucks are overrated when the majority of analysts picked the Sharks to win, and most fans have been criticizing the Canucks play for awhile now.

Just reposting what a guy said on our topic. Guessing it was on NHL Tonight.

I agree. I mean, the green men are really dumb, but I thought Drew went overboard there.

Even the 40 year old virgins line was kind of harsh

Yeah.

Well, he announces for CSN and he gets paid by the Sharks, so I guess he can be a homer if he wants. We just have no right to complain about other commentators as long as we have him.

We limped around this year, had some real stinkers so I'm not clear who overrated us but it's news to me.

Kassian was the most underwhelming player on the ice. He's built like a tank, and in the playoffs if he isn't producing, at the very least I expect a few big hits. Very disappointing, I hope AV sparks him.

Really? The green men choose to bring all that attention on themselves by dressing and acting like they do. I have no problem with people being harsh to/about them.

Lol at people getting their panties twisted about the green men. God forbid they don't sit on their hands the entire game. They bring life to Rogers Arena and have some creative ideas. Don't like it Shark fans? They aren't doing it for you. Fans at the arena enjoy it so suck it up. Even more pathetic that a 50 year old Drew Remenda or whatever his name is was being such a baby about it.

They're idiots, the more attention you give them, the more power they have with the fans and getting them into it. I mean hey, if you need a gimmick like that, by all means, but it really hasn't done much for them besides be a sideshow act to the fans. If it keeps the fans entertained, then so be it.

Honestly don't think either team played their best hockey tonight. I know the Sharks can be a LOT better, especially with some of the breakout plays. I'm sure the Canucks can be better too.

As for the game...

1) If you think the refs decided the game then you are factually incorrect. There were questionable calls both ways, but the bottom line is anybody will tell you that the Sharks played better and deserved the win. You don't ALWAYS win when you play better, but that's the way it happened today.

2) Luongo looked great coming in instead of Schneider, especially in the first period when the heat was put on him. That first big save coming across the crease? Could have been the game right there honestly had that gone in.

3) Kesler is definitely hurt. He was missing a gear it seems.

4) Havlat is hurt, don't know if we'll see him again soon.

I don't blame any home commentators for being homers at all. However when commentators are doing a national game (not a rebroadcast of a home feed like tonight) then homerism annoys the hell out of me. Anyone remember the "Jesus Toews" GDT from a couple years back because of the NBC homerism?

I agree. Eddie O. saying "Kaner" "Sharpie" and "Big Hoss" on national games annoys me. No problem with it when it's just a rebroadcast of the Chicago feed, but he shouldn't do it when he's with Emrick and company.

Corrado? The story isn't anything special really, a 5th round pick from the OHL in 2011 who really started to shine after being drafted, was invited to the Canada WJC team camp and was the best dman in the tryouts but got cut.

Anyways for game 2 we really need to see the Canucks offensive talent pick it up. In particular I thought we had a real lock of good point shots until the last minute there with the goalie pulled.

It's not really a gimmick, they're just a couple of crazy fans that get tickets to those seats once in awhile. They have nothing to do with the Canucks organization or the other fans.

What gives the blues commentators a pass and the sharks none though?

There was a thread i saw earlier about a person complaining about the Blues/LA game and how the commentators were biased towards the blues in a national telecast, the thread was followed by a hundreds of posts saying how it's okay because they are the blues broadcast team.

but when someone like the sharks does it, the amount of QQ is nearly unbearable, people just whine about it because it's a team they dislike.
