IF #2 Announces His Retirement...

What game do they raise his sweater? Seems like that could be a possiblility considering we're entering training camp and there's no word on his plans.

I don't know, with Leetch you get that old school hockey feel... original 6 would suit him fine. The Leafs and Bruins certainly don't hurt since he played for them but any of the others would do just fine.

Teams tend to hold retirement ceremonies against teams that they don't draw well against, so they guarantee themselves of a sell out (see Richter's retirement ceremony against the WILD).

Most likely it will be a crap team.

Would love to see them retire it against the Islanders or Devils.

You're right, but would love to see it against the Devs for that awesome spinorama goal he scored against them in the '94 playoffs.

Gimme the Islanders...i cant recall what year or game it was, but leetch walked through every islander player and deke'd DiPietro thus putting it up top. That play is forever engraved into my brain.

this season though, I think most Rangers games will be sold out before the season even starts! So I don't think it'd matter so much.

Screw that, it better not happen this year considering I have already allocated games to people. Let them do it next year.

I hope I'm wrong too, cos I desperately want tickets to 2 games in January, as I'm heading over from the UK So I really hope I can get them today!

I just bought one for a Rangers game @ NJ Devils tho, so at least I know I'll get to see the Rangers again at least 1 time during my visit!

I hope you get the tickets you need as the season goes on.

Too bad the Canucks aren't visiting. That'd be a great team to retire it against since he dominated them in 94!!

It will be a sad day when they raise #2 to the rafters honoring Leetch, not because he doesn't deserve it, but because Park should have had that number retired long ago.

we can debate that for hours and hours and i agree with you...

to avoid getting into the whole thing again i think every team should do it like the leafs do with honored numbers and retired numbers, the honored numbers get the same ceremony and banner but the # can still be worn then only a very select few get their number retired to never be warn again...that way you could honor #2 for both leetch and park, #9 for both graves and bathgate, etc

also being that this is the 80th season in franchise history it would be really nice if they plan to do some stuff to honor and pay tribute to some of those guys in the past that never got it in the past...
