My focus for Lauridsen next season is top-4 in the AHL, and hopefully he'll continue to build on his taste of NHL action and take strides forward in his development. Not ready for NHL.

I like Laurdisen but a team would have to be absolutely desperate to claim and keep him up in the NHL for next year. He needs another year in the AHL.

he'll be in the AHL next year and since the flyer don't have much of anything down there he'll probably be getting top minutes and Manning or maybe Alt.

He has progressed every season since being drafted, his work ethic is very good, and I wouldn't be suprised if he made the big team out of camp next year.

More realistically, he starts with the Phantoms and plays big minutes and gets called up sooner or later. The Flyers always need up to 10 defenseman (or more) and Ollie should drop no lower than 7-9 on the depth chart which is almost guaranteed NHL minutes next year. If Grossmann or Schenn go down with an injury he is the logical replacement.

How about a Coburn replacement. His salary is higher (and IMO maxed for what he brings to the table) and it ends earlier.

Grossmann is a better defensive defenseman than Coburn anyway.

We don't have the luxury to just throw people like Lauridsen in the lineup. Ideal would be that Manning or Gus steps up their play another notch...or that Gostisbehere or whoever we draft in the first round (Risto) can step in next season.
What has Manning, Gost, or whomever done at the NHL level that Lauridsen has not?

What has Lauridsen done to show he doesn't belong?
IMO, he's played better each and every game, and yes he makes some mistakes at times, but he also recovers VERY nicely and busts his rear each and every minute he is out there.

Considering what I've seen from him, I'm actually afraid to either trade or bury him. I do believe he is capable of playing in the bottom pairing right now. Maybe he could be a Grossmann replacement with a bit more of an offensive edge (shot especially). But right now, I really want Grossmann to stay where he is.

They may not have a choice if Grossmann doesn't fully recover from the concussion he somehow suffered in practice.

I'm on record saying this was a wasted pick by the Flyers, but in this instance I'm happy to have been wrong.

I guess he's proof that with hard work you can go far. Perhaps I should try that one day...

How can you really waste a 7th rounder? The likely hood of a player drafted in the last round making the NHL is very slim.

Solid game by Lauridsen in the WC game against Canada. You can just see that his NHL debut have moved mountains for him and the future looks much brighter for the young dane.

I hope so.

I don't know what it is, but I (admittingly) have an irrational hate for Oliver. I don't what it is, but I just could not stand him.

Probably not his fault since he wasn't NHL ready when he was called up, but every little thing he does just pisses me off, and I don't know why .

If Mez gets traded, he has 7 defensemen ahead of him with NHL contracts. He is probably in the same tier as Manning. And probably behind a healthy Bourdon. So he is going back to the AHL and the only way i see him getting time is injuries by Coburn, Grossman, or Schenn.

I absolutely want him playing top pairing minutes and pk, for the phantoms. this being his last year of waiver exemption id want to put a lot of time into grooming him to step into an nhl role next year. bearclaw should be in the mix next year but this camp is still too early

Significant drop off in skating ability. I like Lauridsen, but he'll never be Coburn. Grossmann is more likely.
