4 Years at about $4.25 million per year Or 4 years @ $17 million from the Detroit Red Wings seems about right.

I'd go about 4.25 per for 4 years. I think he would love playing for the leafs and thrive here.

Edit: 4:20!!!!

I really hope the leafs get him. I think it would be $4.25 for 4 or 5 years. He would fit in well with kadri and lupul.

I'll be happy if he goes to DET, I like DET but I don't want him to hurt my Devils so I can still watch him

5 years $30 million from the Jackets. Perfect fit.

Trade whatever pick in takes to get his rights and get the deal done before UFA opens.

Will replace the grit and sandpaper lost when we gave up Dorsett, and would certainly be a top six forward and another source of offense. Also has the grit and attitude the team is looking for to make it harder to play against.

You would pay David Clarkson 6 million a year? I hope this happens, Lou would say good riddance and not even consider a counter offer.

You don't want Clarkson for 6M.. especially if you expect him to be a bonafide top 6 forward. He works as a 3rd liner with PP time.. but he's not really a source of offense. He's more the guy who cashes in on other people's offense.

Good to have but he's not doing it alone.

from a Devils fan and Clarky fan.... not a penny over 3.75M

compared to similar contracts Clarky is not as good. hes a physical presence, and good for garbage goals at the net, but to pay 4+ for him would be criminal. you'd have to REALLY need him for your team to pay that

EDIT: 5x30? you would spend 6M a year for a 3rd liner? wow. Jackets must have some pretty well paid first liners lol

wow. toronto must have a real bone on for this guy. youd pay him more than Lupul and JVR, and 80% of Kessel money? 0_0

EDIT: based on Lupuls current contract, noticed he goes up next year. still mad

some of you guys offering up ~$5 million AAV must not watch him play on a consistent basis.

he is a terrible skater, terrible defensively, and has 0 hockey IQ.

Just so there is some comparison:
Clarkson age 29. points in previous seasons-23, 46, 18, 24, 32
Hartnell age 31. points in previous seasons-11(hurt), 67, 49, 44, 60

Hartnell would have been a UFA this summer but signed an extension worth $4.75 million. No way is Clarkson worth more than that for those saying 5-6 mill!!

I hope he'll sign with the Leafs for 3.5 per. Replacing MacArthur(4.25), hometown boy and better then Clarke. Let's do it.

David Clarkson is the dumbest hockey player to ever score 30 goals. To this day I still don't know how he did it.
