I'd suspect Leafs and Flyers would both do Gardiner for 11th overall...

Leafs would probably draft Pulock and Horvat if that's the case. Pulock is a die hard Leafs fan and would be paired with Rielly in the future.

Well I have him as my avatar and he does hold his own as a top pairing Dman in EDM going against the toughest competition..
Fairly young and not too expensive. So yes Petry to me is worth a mid 1st

I would think about trading Leddy for the 1st +, only if Leddy is commanding 3+mil.

I think we'd go with Risto, we have enough offensive D, we need some guys with size, physicality and a rh shot on the blue line.

They might. He is not going to be waiver exempt next year. So basically they have to make up their minds. Either use him in NHL or trade him. Carlyle isn't going anywhere and he doesn't seem to trust Gardiner.

I'm not saying Leafs are going to trade Gardiner, but they do have to figure out what chance there is of Gardiner being a guy Carlyle will want to use going forward.

As you can see Im very high on Shatty. Love him
Would need a significant plus with Couturier. We don't really care if he is a shutdown defensive center, since we have Backes, who is better at that IMO.

Read, Meszaros, and Coburn do nothing for us.

Just out of curiosity, do you see ST.l having $25 million invested for their top 5 D-men or do you see any move being made?

I'd rather stay at 11 and get Pulock than pay a price to move up three or four spots.

Pietrangelo - 6.5
Shattenkirk - 4.5
Bouwmeester - 6.6 (resigned at 5 years 25 million)
Jackman - 3.25
Polak - 3.1

Yes, I expect us to spend 24 million, with it going down slightly when Bouwmeester resigns. I think we will also front load contracts to make it less in the next couple years.

I think we move one of Perron/Berglund/Stewart/Oshie or even Halak if we have to first.

I don't see anyone being moved. Least of all for dmen that likely cost as much but are worse.

Honestly the blues are powered by their d. I see no reason to down grade that position unless we are getting a legit top center. We don't need wingers.

in the trade with coburn and mezaros we are taking on a ton of salary that we would be better off spending on shatty. Makes no sense. Heck we would be adding payroll and cap hit. Just not thought out.

Replacing him with dmen that are just as expensive is stupid.

But lets say that the blues decide to move him. We would want someone that is now ready to step into a top 4 roll and can move the puck on an elc ++ otherwise it makes no sense and we will likely have to get one in the ufa market that would cost us more.

It was really just a curious question...not one to try and push Blues fans buttons. Personally, I like the Blues and how they play. Would love Oshie on the Flyers. I assume Cole would be the #6 or would Russell?

I know, the numbers were more for me, not to prove something. Defense is our strength, and I think Armstrong will do everything to keep it that way. We don't have top end finishers to sacrifice any of our defense strength yet. If Schwartz and Tarasenko develop into top offensive players, then we probably won't have to spend as much on defense or if Allen develops into a top goalie.

Right now, our defense covers for what we lack in other areas.

Russell is ahead of Cole, but we really won't know what we will do until after the playoffs are over. I think a decision will be made on Cole's future over the summer, he's either in the top 6 or traded IMO. Every Blues fan is wondering how that situation will develop, no one really knows.
