Very close. Leaning towards Marchand because he adds that dimension of being a piece of ****.

Marchand because he's also a pest.

Lol I like your reasoning, not being sarcastic I agree, even as a Bruins fan. Very irritating it must be playing against him. If you ignore him he won't ever leave you alone but if you go after him, Chara and Lucic won't leave you alone either.

Going with Stepan only because he put up more points this season while having less line consistency (if that makes sense), plays center which requires more defensive responsibilities and is 2 years younger.

It's close though. Both players lead their team this year.

Marchand is slightly more proven, but Stepan has been better this season than Marchand has ever been. Couple that with Stepan being the younger player and I take Stepan both right now and going forward.

Well, 1 year was his rookie year and last year he was likely playing injured.

Either way, I don't know how you can use stats from previous years in a Stepan comparison. Stepan was a decent 2C last season and even worse 2 seasons ago. If Stepan flops in the playoffs this year you'll have a case.

Marchand was also a rookie for 25 of those playoff games.

Most of Marchand's playoff games were from his rookie year as well

And if we're comparing Marchand as a rookie to Stepan as a rookie that would be relevant.

how can you disregard position when talking about overall?

centers are almost always more well rounded than wingers...

So you're allowed to make excuses for Stepan but when we point out that it was also Marchands rookie year it's not relevant

Disregarding team need, position, etc., I think I'd take Marchand. He's a POS on the ice made all the more annoying by the fact that he's also a good player.

Stepan had a career year this season, but I'd take marchand. He's a pest, the B's leading scorer in goals and points, and lit the playoffs up in his rookie season.

I like Marchand because he doesnt act up against the flyers really for some reason. I dont like that he wont fight. Cant stand players like that.

Marchand is such a ****ing dick that it's going to be him. He just adds that extra dimension, although it's very close imo.
