Pretty nice play from Teräväinen(#19) for that goal in u20 tournament in Slovakia couple weeks ago.
(I'm new here and not sure how these links are working)

Vince Hinostroza and the Waterloo Blackhawks lost in the first round of the USHL playoffs to the Fargo Force.

USHL playoff series go to five games, and it took all five and OT to knock out the Hawks.

Vince finishes the playoffs with 5GP, 4G, 3A, +0

Next year Vince takes the next step in his development and moves on to Notre Dame in the NCAA. It should be easier to gauge his development and pro potential once he's there.

I really like Hinostroza. He's got speed, hands, and seems to have a nose for the net. I believe it was Corey Pronman who described him as an energy bunny. The only thing he lacks is size. I could see him going to Notre Dame for 4 years, and being a PpG player in his final two seasons. The talent is there.

Yeah, it's pretty hard not to like Hinostroza as a prospect. Like you said, he's got everything except size.

I expect him to do well well at Notre Dame. He's got a great skillset, ND has a great hockey program, and the NCAA as a whole is a league where players can succeed without NHL size.

I'll definitely be tuning into some ND games next year to see how he's doing.

Dillon Fournier has a goal tonight as Rouyn-Noranda trails Halifax 7-4 in the third period. They put up a good fight, but it looks like they'll be swept tonight. Halifax was destined to come out of the QMJHL.

Fournier, at this point in time, looks like he'll finish the post-season with 4 goals, and 11 points in 14 games. Quite impressive, considering he only had 6 goals and 24 points in 59 games during the regular season.

Fournier's another intriguing prospect. Obviously he was a 2nd round pick, but he seems to have a lo of tools: Size, skating, hockey sense. He's still lean, but I could definitely see him being a top-4 Dman down the road. A longer-term prospect, but I think he'll be a good NHLer in 4-5 years.

Do you have any idea why Fourniers offensive production flat lined during the regular season? I know he had an injury and did modestly well for a time after coming back but then his offense flat lined and was getting hardly any points. His +/- was good though. Good to him picking up scoring in the playoffs.

I'm not sure, but I don't think he was getting top PP minutes.

JT Comphers eligible for this years draft. Plays center but some have him listed at only at 5'10. I wish the Chicago area prospects had some more size like the Pittsburgh area prospects.

To add to my other post, Fournier finished the game with 1 goal, 1 assist, for a post-season total of 4 goals and 12 points in 14 games. Great rebound after a sub-par regular season, offensively.

If his defense is good and improving, I'll take that over offensive numbers. Hes mobile which is what the Hawks like for their d prospects.

His listings are all over the place. He's definitely a guy I'd like the Hawks to get.

EliteProspects - 6'00"
HockeyDB - 5'11"
ISS - 5'10.5"
Central Scouting - 6'00"

So the kid is likely 5'10" to 5'11"

The NTDP isn't the only route for NHL-potential prospects from Chicago. Or anywhere, for that matter.

Alex Broadhurst had 2 goals and an assist as London beat the Plymouth Whalers to advance to their 2nd straight OHL Championship series. Thus far, Broadhurst has 9 goals and 21 points in 14 games.

I personally have a hard time gauging Broadhurst's Pro upside. He's got good hands, decent wheels, above-average hockey sense and he's not too small.. but, something about him makes me believe he won't be an NHLer. On the other hand, he comes up big in the playoffs. He was the playoff MVP on the USHL champs last year, and is having a very good post-season for London.

practice

I was at Johnny's West today for practice. Most of the Rockford call ups were not on the ice.

Stanton skated today and it made me think that he will most likely be a Hawk next year.

Smith was out there as well. I think he takes Frolik's spot. Smith has pretty good wheels. His skating stood out today in a few drills.

Stanton is a rock on the blue line. I thought he had a decent shot of making the team out of camp this year.

with all the Vets on our roster, Stanton has to play better than them, not only as good as them

I like both those guys. Stanton is the closest thing in the org to what we are missing at the back, and Smith has a good motor and plays big. Nice contracts too.

I think the 50 contracts is a problem right now. If they were unable to sign Drew LeBlanc I think they would have signed Johns. I still think Johns gets signed before next season.

Stephen Johns is returning to Notre Dame for his Senior season. Hopefully he doesn't screw the Hawks over. Outside of finishing school, it's a wasted year in terms of his development.
