Hence my theory that if Eller plays really well, he'll take Plekanec's minutes on the PP -- especially with Tomas Plekanec's play taking a drop at the 40-game point. Unless it's actually a situation of DD playing really bad.

I mean, if what works is to take ONLY DD's icetime, then fine. The thing is, you'll STILL have a player playing too much minutes for my tastes (Plekanec).

This said, I concur that there should already have been an icetime adjustment, in order to give a little more minutes to the Kid line and and a little less minutes to the three other lines combined.
I tend to agree that Plekanec should play a little less to begin with, but the problem is that Plekanec has been one of our strongest forwards on the PP while Desharnais was horrible this year.

I'm not trying to make this a DD bashing thread, if Desharnais can show ANY life on the power play then yes, it changes things. Especially since our PP production is driven by the defense anyway. But first step is for Desharnais to stop being dead weight on the PP - if anything that's been where DD has been struggling more than even strength.

No way that isn't a concussion, one suicide pass and he is done for the playoffs.

I was disgusted by that hit, it pisses me off how Eller's career was taking off and he might not be the same player now because of a ****ing dirty hit.

So frustrating to lose Eller on such a dirty play just when he was blossoming.

Diaz put him in a pretty vulnerable spot with a suicide pass too.

The angle from the corner RDS just showed is the smoking gun. Clear head shot.

I was glad Ference got suspended for his hit. Not feeling that way anymore.

Why would you even come here to post that? Who cares what you think?
This is a discussion forum. That's what they're for. The replays weren't great, but I have it on PVR and rewinded it a few times and it looked like shoulder to chest and then Eller fell face first onto the ice, the ice doing most of the damage. If anyone has a better view than what CBC showed, I'd certainly look at that and it could change my view.

In order to have that much blood on the ice it has to be his nose. When you break your nose it bleeds like crazy.

I'm worried that he got a concussion or broken jaw. That would put him out a long time.

Should be a lengthy suspension, but really what difference does it make, Ottawa loses a scrub defenseman.

Shanahan will call it a "strong hockey play" and a $500 fine.

From the back camera view it's possible Lars broke his nose hitting the ice, that could explain the fast blood. And if it's that alone it might be not so bad. Get well soon Lars!

Still no excuse for a headshot like that.

I'm sure Melnyk will be calling for a lengthy suspension.

I hope it will make the rounds, it was pretty clear. The angle was from the corner to Price's right.

Nothing official, rds is reporting Eller lost a few teeth. Hopefully he "only" got knocked out by the hit to the chin like a boxer and did not sustained any concussion or broken jaw (Crosby). A broken nose can be tolerated.

Still hoping to see him back in this serie!
