What I had originally said is that if you watch the replay, (to me) it looked like he got hit shoulder to chest and then fell face first directly onto the ice, with the ice doing the damage.

Also, as I stated earlier, I will fully admit to being wrong about the hit if a better replay surfaces. The CBC ones weren't all that great.

Pretty much standard procedure.

2011: No Pacioretty, Markov and Gorges
2010: Markov out in Game 1 of round 2. So this would be the year we escaped healthy.
2009: Markov never played.
2008: Started without Koivu for first 5 games, probably led to that series going 7.
2006: Koivu gets his eye gauged by Williams to completely change that series.

Not according to CBC and the leaf fans who are going to try to piss us off by defending they truly are classless. IF that happened to one of them, I'd be disgusted with it. It may not have been the most intentional one, but reckless hit for sure, and if you are reckless you run the risk of being dirty. Which it ended up being.

I'm not gonna disagree with you. I just think, from experience, you don't land face first unless you lose consciousness from the hit.

It just looked like an awkward fall, again, I could be totally wrong, apparently RDS has better views than what I saw on CBC, so if I'm wrong, I'll fully admit it. Just have to wait for more views to surface. But IMO, at this point, it was a clean hit with an unfortunate ending. Hopefully Eller won't be out for too long. We're losing too many players to concussions lately.

Christ, it's like some people don't even read the message I posted under the picture. They just let their emotions do the talking. Though if I saw that happen to one of my own players, I'd probably react the same way.

TSN is about to have their breakdown of the hit during the Rangers/Caps intermission. Hopefully they'll have better views / replays.

The blood on the ice wasn't from the hit but from contact with the ice, it's possible but we don't know for sure if he lost consciousness. Habs said "concussion" that does not have to mean knocked out. Any way IMHO best case is teeth and a busted nose that can be reset. And Lars back soon.

Sorry guys, it was a perfectly clean hit. TSN showed all the replays and nothing meets the criteria of a dirty hit. His head hit the back of Gryba's shoulder as he hit through him, but the principle point of contact was with the shoulder to chest and the hip into Eller's lower body. The entire panel of Fraser, Ward, Peca and MacKenzie agreed. Regardless, I hope Eller is back in your line up soon, good luck the rest of the way.

By the way am I the only one who is not so concerned with which side of "the line" people want to position the hit by the Sen player? Main thing is not how many minutes or haw many games but Eller's condition

Hits to the head are not clean.

The Senators are not going to win game 1 primarily because of Anderson. They're going to win primarily because one of their team injured Lars Eller.

It was a blindside hit.

The head was not the initial point of contact, seems like most of the damage (broken nose) came form his fall. Why don't we stop being so biased and actually watch the replay.

Someone can say it was blinside, but it wasn't to the head.

It is really sad, he was constantly one of our best forwards, if not the best. I hope he will be back top shape at the camp.

It says how important Eller has become to this team that it seems like such a disaster it is to lose him. He might be our third best forward after Plekanec and Pacioretty, and he's outplayed both of them lately. I have zero confidence in this team surviving in the playoffs without him, even if I trust Galchenyuk at center.

Get well soon.

Any chance he comes back for round 2 if there ever is one? Anyone know what the diagnostic is?
