I did not think Sharp was that bad last game. He cannot get worse!

Yes, because he's still better than a fourth liner.

Sharp had his chances this year. His shooting % was way down, since the shot is usually one of the last things a player loses, I'm not that concerned yet.

I'm not as attached to Sharp as many but I don't see any reason for concern because of his goal production. Given the amount of chances he had, I think the numbers would work out over the course of the year. He's had plenty of hot and cold streaks in his career. I'm not to alarmed because of the relatively new injury for him and the shooting %.

I did think he had a poor game on Tuesday, but I chalked it up to having been out of the lineup more than anything. Seemed more like timing and communication issues.

Hawks have a really good team for a couple years. They'll be very conservative with health, similar to this year in my opinion. I think he'll continue to get banged up a bit here and there and miss 10-ish games or so.

I voted NO to 60pts, only because he'll miss a few more games. I have no problem with 25+ and 25+ on a 2nd line wing as long as he's helping the pp.

That's a damning statement. Do you have facts to back up your accusation?

Sharp is still a core player and this poll is ridiculous. He scored 20 points in 28 games which would be 58 points in an 82 game season - and some of those 28 games were coming back from injuries where he wouldn't have been in game speed.

Like Dave Bolland - he's had an injury riddled and mostly unproductive year. Like Dave Bolland again - he deserves some slack due to past successes with the Hawks.

bad years happen, you don't cut ties with a quality player after one rough year. Particularly one with as many exceptional circumstances as this one

For one I don't think sharp is awful, but has definitely had bad luck this year. So not try to get him into the swing of things by playing him at center? That's where he was when we won the cup unless I am mistaken (I am an admittedly semi-novice hockey analyst). But until Bolland comes back and proves he has something to prove it is either Sharp or Handzus (who has pleasantly surprised me) to play second C. I think if we fill in a Bollig with say Morin as many have suggested it really frees up Q to mix up the lines throughout the game and spread playmakers and shot makers throughout the lines, and make things easier on each other. I for one will probably never forgive Sharp for that blown goal in Game 7 vs. the Canucks, but he has plenty left to give. However it would sure help him get back into the swing of things if he had a real center to feed him.

That 5-6% shooting percentage actually suggest that his bad luck won't continue.

So, you are going to base Sharp's playing ability on some arbitrary PPG stat?

I'm guessing you have never played hockey, likely never even skated.

He's had an off year combined with injuries. Sharp has been definitely frustrating to watch, but no. He will bounce back. Being healthy is important.

Based on what I read on here, I'd say that holds true for the majority of posters.

Well his wife is pregnant again - so should we anticipate that he'll also be bad the next two years?

Look at that, another player with an off-season being thrown under the bus.

The concerns and value of Bolland are much different than those for Sharp.

Damn right it holds some weight when a player is making 6m a year to put up points.

Overall the poll has done its job 61% voted he will bounce back. 38% voted that he will not. I voted that I think he will. It doesn't mean anyone is right.

I just wanted to see how many thought it was a legitimate concern and about 40% think that it is...

Lots of people also though Kane should have been traded because of his bad year, many on her want Bolland out right cut because he hasn't been good. All it proves to me is that many on this board are irrational and not that they have legit concerns.

1 somewhat bad lockout shortened season from Sharp doesn't prove anything.

He'll be fine and be a 50-60 pt player next year, barring any injuries.

I'm not concerned about Sharp at all. His leadership alone is worth having him back in the lineup. He never seemed to get into rhythm this year, short year, seemed to be plagued by injuries, hopefully he gets his game going in the postseason. He's a streaky player, needs to stay healthy and he'll get going.
