There's no point in bringing KHL to Samara instead of Tolyatti, it's the same metropolitan area. It was always considered as a place for a minor affiliate of Lada.

Samara is bigger, prettier and wealthier city, that's gonna be further developed by WC2018. And they could have better arena as well.

So, after hearing that Jan Muršak signed a deal with Amur Khabarovsk I got into research.

It seems Amur has a 100% attendance record, for their 7,100 seat arena, during the past five KHL seasons and that the city itself has about 600,000 inhabitants. Do they have any plans to build a new and larger arena in the near future? Sure their Platinum arena is only a decade old, but it seems they could easily support an arena in the range of about 12,000 seats

Volgograd? No, nothing. Well, there is a rumor that Volgograd's basketball team owner, which is called "Red October", wants to build a new basketball hall, so probably the only possibility for Volgograd to get a hockey venue is if that thing will be a Multipurpose Arena with enough space for a rink. And that is highly unlikely. Simple court will be a lot cheaper.

And I have my doubts that Volgograd has enough money in the budget for a hockey arena, considering that at the moment they're preoccupied with 45000 seat football stadium for the World Cup.

As there is no thread dedicated to the updates of current KHL arenas I'll post it here.

Tatneft Arena got the new lighting system. No more yellow ice and oversaturated spots.

Fastovski: Sibir should start 2016 playoffs on a new arena.
The capacity will be about 12,000.

Of course they need, as well as every team in the KHL. But there is a rule about new arena projects: the capacity must be 12k or more. I'm waiting for a bunch of 12k-arenas in a few years, as it was earlier with the limit of 5,500.

That is sad, KHL should give minimal capacity of 15 000.

Most of the teams in the league would fold even after an attempt build one let alone trying to run it afterwards. But that won't stop internet posters from throwing around obscene numbers.

Wouldn't most teams struggle to fill that out and the cost of building such a stadium would give them huge financial problems. What are the attendances like for the KHL?

VHL official site talks about 7K arena being built in Lipetsk. Good for them.

Are there any arenas in Murmansk Oblast ? Or teams.

Epic style if there was some future KHL team and they will be something like twins with Vladivostok...
About 8500 km away of each other.

As far as I know there is no hockey team in Murmansk. Murmansk is a bandy city not a hockey city.

Vladimir Konstantinov was born in Murmansk. He might be the only top hockey player from this northern city.

It's said that this rink is the only indoor ice rink in Murmansk (don't know about oblast')
