^ Yup.

Giving that hit a two game suspension after giving Ference a one game suspension for an elbow is kind of ridiculous.

Basically saying a clean hit(albeit with a disastrous result) is worse than blatantly throwing an elbow into an opponent's face.

That isn't in the NHL rule book though. If that is the direction the NHL wants to go they better make it clear. Just tell players no hard hits allowed I guess.

Yeah, that's the annoying part to me.

Gryba didn't break any rules there.

If you want to remove that type of hit from the game, make a rule against it. Don't make it up as you go.

Hard hits are allowed. Hard hits that involve even marginal contact to the head are not. Subban hits guys harder than anyone else. Just not to the head. We need to start at the grassroots on this (cliché, I know) and teach guys to just lower themselves a little bit more. If Gryba is six inches lower there Eller pops right back up. (After he catches his breath for a few minutes maybe, but he doesn't get sent to the hospital)

What a load of **** this league has become. If they want to suspend that hit ban headshots outright. This is a clean hit with current rules, but somehow he still gets susepended.

I just have no idea how they consider the head the principle point of contact.

You can blatantly see Gryba's shoulder hit Eller's chest/shoulder which causes Eller head to snap forward and down onto the top of Gryba's shoulder.

It's in no way the principle point of contact.

It's basically a textbook example of legal incidental contact to the head.

I can't believe D. Brown's knee-on-knee didn't even get looked at. He threw up an elbow for good measure...on a rookie.

He's a disgrace, and pretty much the sole reason I hate LA.

I thought both that hit and the Ference elbow were way dirtier and had more intent than the Gryba hit. I can't believe the other two weren't at least given a phone hearing for blatant attempts to injure. Schwartz and grabovski were lucky to escape imo.

I'd be fine if they were going to another Canadian network... but FOX? In the US?? God, I hate it when Canadians jump at the chance at so-called "glitz and glamour" in the United States. Canada will always be second fiddle as long as our best and brightest are looking at success down south...

QFT.

And it's clear the NHL felt they had to suspend for the hit on Eller, but you're completely right, dnicks et al, that there wasn't really any rule broken.

Until they make it crystal clear they're not going to allow that kind of headhunting, they at least have to be consistent.

Sounds like they're going to be the main guys on Fox's new national sports channel.

Probably getting a boatload of cash.

Supposedly they're getting their own PTI type of show too.

It may be FOX (the king of television obnoxiousness) but there's no bloody way that they'll get as much creative freedom as they did on TSN. They'll be neutered and reined in. Guaranteed.

Yeah it sucks i kinda expected them to leave at some point they are great guys, I guess they believe they have a chance to do bigger better things in America,
I'm just going to miss the way they said bobrovsky or elliot or skinner and the way they yelled at us to watch upcoming events. There is no chance i'll be watching fox sports so they're dead to me

Well they won't be able to do what they do now because they won't be talking about hockey they better start thinking of funny ways to say Lebron James or Aaron Rodgers

Seriously.

Check out Fox's description of the channel:
"The slate of sports programming on Fox Sports 1 will initially include college football and basketball games from the Big East, Big 12, Conference USA and Pac-12 athletic conferences of the NCAA, soccer matches from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and CONCACAF Champions League along with rights to the Men’s and Women’s FIFA World Cup tournaments, Ultimate Fighting Championship events and live fights, and Grand Prix motorcycle racing from the Moto2 and Moto3 classes as well as the MotoGP World Championship. Fox Sports 1 will also gain rights to regular season Major League Baseball Saturday games and select post-season games beginning in 2014, and select NASCAR events including Sprint Cup events starting as early as 2015 (along with rights to qualifying and practice sessions)."

I have zero reason to ever watch that channel.
