Honestly who cares? It's not like he's a difference maker on your team. It's not even as bad for Ottawa as it was when White was suspended for 5 games for Montreal and no one noticed on the team.

He took out a very important cog in Montreal's machine and he got 2 games for it. I'm sure he'd do the same if he knew the consequences before making the hit.

It is what it is.

Hard to swallow. Even harder to explain.
Couldn't agree more. The precedent has now been set........ from here to NHL eternity.
The game has been redefined and this open ice (and clean hit) will be the measuring stick from now on. This isn't going away anytime soon.

Yup, you're bang on.

It's really a sad statement by the nhl. The game I love is changed. It's the beginning of the end of hard open ice hits.

I don't have a problem with the NHL making stiffer rules, but they should change the rules first and then enforce them, not the other way around. The way the rule is currently written, that was a perfectly legal hit and didn't even deserve a penalty. Shanahan is full of it when he says the principle point of contact was the head. If you ask me, Subban's hit showed more ill-intent as he was clearly targeting Neil's head.

Exactly., But the biggest winers in the league have a different Rule book made up just for them, to keep them from whining and crying. This has been going on for years

Only if you say that all the neighbors called 911 to have the tree chopped down.

I don't listen to your sports radio where I am but I hope Gryba is getting a lot of credit for a great hit. This suspension doesn't change that.

With exception being if the hitter is on one of the NHL's darling teams. Then he's called a humanitarian and given a pat on the back.

It's all about money folks. The Habs bring in more money and higher ratings for round 2. And the darling little Cindy need to hoist another cup so casual sports fans will return to the NHL.

No point spending a penny or being emotionally invested in this corrupt league anymore.
