Not yet.

Although its true that he shows up big time.

He looks like a freaking 8.5 million dollar player at times.

The Habs will need a continuous steady stream of awesome low-paid rookies in the future... like the Galleys and Tinordi.

Keeping draft picks is essential, but MB knows this.

Honestly, I think it should be Plekanec. I think there's no question he has everyone's respect in that lockerroom. He's consistent and durable. He's been here forever and I think he can handle the media because he's quite calm, reserved and poised. Also, he has the quiet confidence that will help him handle the pressure. And he's still a great player.

He'd be like Gionta but better.

I hope so!!! Sorry but Gorges is way too immature (crying about Pks attitude)
Pk is the franchise if a player is not happy about it then he is free to leave
Nobody brings up what Pk does
Pk Subban is the best

See thats exactly what i was telling a friend. Its time to get rid of all the crying babies that have a problem with Subban. Thats his team now.

PRUST.

Hands down. He won me over completely with the fat bug-eyed walrus comment. That's the guy I want representing us.

Prust is cool and all and I respect him for what he brings but he needs to stay the hell away from the captaincy of Les Glorieux.

Gorges.

A's to Subban and Prust.

Markov probably only has a couple years left in the tank.

I'm not going to say Subban would fold under the pressure of the "C", but it might make him think he has to do that much more. All he needs to keep doing is exactly what he's doing right now.

Although, depending on what happens with Gionta (you never know, they might re-sign him on the cheap), Gallagher might be in the running a few years down the line. Kid is a class act, always smiley, and has the work ethic to influence an entire team.

Is Carey Price a good leader?

I think that Price should be given consideration - provided that he could be given the C off-ice (on-ice C could go to Subban).

This is a team rich in leaders...people will say pk, but pk sometimes doesn't think before he speaks. I wouldn't assess the situation until it's time, there is a born leader brewing in montreal by the name of galchenyuk. A talented player, who looks like he might not be scared to get physical for his team mates. something you don't expect, but he does it anyway and quietly goes about his business with a very humble attitude.

I'd love to see Subban as a captain, but I get the feeling he wouldn't be a unanimous choice among his teammates - at least in the past...maybe he's won over his doubters. I hope he has.

Otherwise, depending on how next season unfolds, I think Plekanec, Gallagher, and maybe even Galchenyuk would all be good options too.

In today's game, a leader is not only a leader in the dressing room, but also a leader on the ice - not only through hard work, but also through the magnitude of his impact on the game.

Who cares if you score 0 goals in a season or 60.
Either way doesn't make you less or more of a captain.

How you are on the ice, on the bench and in the room.... is what matters.

Another big point in favor of his eventual candidacy. He'll be a top-notch "face" for the team

I said that awhile ago. I didn't understand why he hasn't been in the conversation until now. He's our best big game player and plays his ass off in every game.

Price
PK
Patches
Gally squared is out future. Size, skill and heart across the board. Future is bright.

Prust until Eller or Galchenyuk are ready for the "C", preferably Galchenyuk.

Certainly not next season. Many good qualities but needs more.
Have him sign a long term contract before.

He is not ready for these duties.
Captain is the player dealing with the referees.

Maybe by the end of next season after Gionta is gone.

Edit: BTW, in four weeks we could even see Price in that role.
Many options but Gionta is the Captain till end of next season.

He'll get an A someday, but we don't need to make him captain. Even while I am not the happiest with Gorges lately, he probably deserves it. My personal preference would actually be Pleks.

The person who EXUDES captain...is Brendan Gallagher and he just so happens to have a number that has in the last two decades been worn by two awesome Habs who were made captain (Muller for far too short).
Down the road maybe, hopefully. When he gets facial hair.

I honestly think he already is the face of this team. When you think Canadiens he's the first thing that pops in your mind, at least for me anyway. Was on the cover of NHL.com as our playoffs ''representative'', is being picked in EA NHL cover polls etc..

Not to mention being our best player, and contending for the Norris already.

He's our franchise player with Price and soon Gally.
