I just took a look at the dmen for non-playoff teams, searching for guys who could have been in consideration:

Brewer
Campbell
Girdano
Brodie
Weber
Ellis
Barrie

Really not much to choose from outside of Weber and Giordano. Indeed, the vast majority of quality Canadian defensemen are in the playoffs.

I think they plan on adding a couple of D and one more F after the first round is done. I think it's a good plan. See how the team is looking for a few days on international ice, and then address those needs from a larger talent pool. Makes sense. One of Doughty or Pietrangelo will be available after the first round. Add one of them and the D instantly looks much more solid. And what if PK is free? Or Burns? Keith, Seabrook and Letang probably won't be, but there will still be some good Canadian D to choose from.

The forwards really do look fantastic. Good mix of elite skill and grit. With the right D, and if they can find a G to hold the fort, they could go far this year.

yeah you could make a legit argument for about 1/3 of those guys listed to be on the final team... with canada's defence, these guys could easily win the gold at the olympics... only maybe russia or sweden would have a better forward group

There's a handful of other IIHF games on http://www.sportlemon.tv/c-3.html and http://atdhe.eu/hockey

I would assume Canada's game will show up on there when the game starts.

Denmark 1-0? Whoops.

Hall obliterates a player as he goes behind the net. Then can't stuff it farside from the nearside corner. Thought that was going in.

Eberle with an assist so far. Schultz could have had one as well but I guess it just barely got touched after that.

Marc Crawford seems to really love Schultz's game. Granted he seems to love everyone on TC haha.

Edit: Wow Duchene is playing good, He looks really good with Hall and Ebs as well.

Its pretty obvious that Lindy Ruff has little knowledge of the western conference.

Eberle with two assists?

Easy assists, but still.

Probably knows he's not coming to the Oilers, that's why he's doing as he pleases...even if it makes no sense

Matt Duchene

After watching today's game, Duchene plays well with Hall and Eberle. Got 2 goals and Eberle got 2 assists (easy ones, but who cares?)
One can dream.
