Doing the odd dual-watching thing and the Buccos are up 3-1 over the Nats after 6. Burnett is cruising, McCutchen is 3-for-3, Mercer hit a 2-run home run, and Harper got picked off 1st...the Pirates are playing better than the Penguins

And Brandon Inge started in Right Field, a position he's played for exactly five innings in his professional career.

Strasburg goes tomorrow against Locke. Its early, but somehow Locke has a lower era than Strasburg.

I watch tons of Pirates games but somehow I always miss AJ's starts. Lame.

This could be a good game to get to Strasburg, as he got hurt in his last start...and as I say that he'll surely strike out 15.

Oh man, just watched the highlights from last night and Greg Brown's call on the Mercer homer was "MERCER MERCER ME!" I love that guy.

I was at the game last night. Big crowd. Cutchs HR was a BLAST. Can't believe Harper missed Mercer's HR. Fans were taunting him really bad last night and I think it truly got to him. He missedd the chance to stop that Mercer HR, which shocked me. Fans trolled the **** out of him after he missed it.

I'm going to the game today as well. Not liking Strasburg vs Locke

I'm going Tuesday as well. Got club seats right behind home plate for my wife and I for our 2nd anniversary. Hopefully we don't face King Felix.

My son got excited because of the cheers for the home run... then cried because it got too loud...

Barmes hit 2-run homer off Strasburg.

4-2 Bucs leading.

This one's on Hurdle if they don't finish it out. Pulling Locke at 75 pitches to use an overworked reliever of the same handedness for two innings is foolish.

**** Strasburg seems to be getting stronger as he goes along. Almost at 100 pitches though.

I blame this loss 100% on Clint Hurdle who didn't use any of his two best relievers in the 9th in a tied game.

Just an absolute **** effort by the Pirates pitching staff. I agree that Hurdle deserves some blame (of course), but the Pirates pitching staff collectively pitched pretty badly to a lineup that isn't very good. And they weren't exactly walking the best National hitters.

4 runs off Strasburg is plenty to ask of the offense. The pitchers, including Locke, pissed away an easy series win.

Hopefully we can still take tomorrow's game and end the tough stretch on a high note. It's been an outstanding early season and we need to be primed to take a bunch of games in upcoming series' against bad teams.

Still confused why Melancon didn't come in in the 9th

6 walks, 3 HBP and two errors. That's eleven free baserunners. Yeah, Clint probably should have used Melancon and/or Grilli, but the rest of the staff has to hold up their end of the bargain and pick up some of the slack sometimes. We're not going anywhere if we're relying on Melancon and Grilli to be utterly lights out every time they take the mound while the rest of the pen delivers mediocrity.

Hughes has already been shuffled off to Indinapolis, and Watson's doing his best to receive the same treatment. I can't imagine Mazzaro has the longest leash out there, and Wilson's really got to cut the **** with all these walks lately.

I think I might be more at odds, perhaps, with Hurdle pulling Locke early for Wilson. You're taking out the lefty with control issues for another lefty with control issues. Locke's pitch count was low, so I really don't comprehend the thinking there.

Best thing that could happen at this point is having Morton and Liariano healthy. Plus where the hell is Contreras!? They were pimping him out, but won't use him

When we get those two back (Morton / Liariano) Locke will be moved to the BP, where he belongs. I don't trust him as a starter, but he's an excellent option for long relief. He does well in short outings.
