Because it rules?

Edit: And Holtby was definitely tested less than Lundqvist today.

The King would have at least one ring by now if New York's offense wasn't so mediocre for the majority of his career.

That guy put up good CHL and AHL numbers. Wonder why he never got a shot with an NHL team

Didn't watch much of the Leafs this year, but looks like Phaneuf is still a terrible defenseman.

Puck over glass penalties are ridiculous; should be treated the same as an icing (I have complained about this many times, I know.) Just gave Detroit an extended 5-on-3, as Don Cherry is talking about it on Coach's Corner.

Yeah, he blew his shot. Equivocating here a bit. I thought you meant something else. You meant actually get a game in. I meant had a chance/shot with an NHL organization.

Yeah I agree with the icing rules for puck out of play. It still gives teams a reason to not to do it purposely and doesn't hurt them too bad if its on accident.

I have to say for not having any goal scoring this LA/St. Louis series has been pretty entertaining.

Nope low scoring games are boring. We need goals, goals and more goals.

When Darryl Sutter was hired, he said it was a 3-2 league, not a 5-4 league. It's becoming a 1-0 league to him.

Yep, we're entering a new low scoring era; scoring has been steadily decreasing since the last lockout's scoring spike. I've seen several theories put together for this. My favorite one is:

1) Better pads for skaters allows for increased shot blocking. Teams can just clog the middle and take away that alley.
2) Large goalie pads combined with the continued evolution of positional/butterfly goaltending means poor angle shots aren't very dangerous anymore.

So you won't be scoring as much from the boards, and getting pucks through the center areas is difficult; makes sense to me, based on what we see. Teams barely bother with board shots anymore (Kane goal aside...) because those shots don't score. We see players fighting for dirty goals, deflections, or the perfect pass. In short, it's just damned difficult to score.

Also add the amount of blatant interference being allowed back into the game.

Funny how they were calling that stuff so enthusiastically at the beginning of the season!
