That's about as much of a headshot as a glove punch in a scrum. I suppose we should review all of those too. And, funny enough, I haven't seen the Canadian media mention anything about suspending players for glove punches in a scrum. SO much bias.
Point of contact was the head (rule 48 violation) AND it caused a visible injury with a cut to the bridge of Paille's nose.
Was it a blatant target? I don't know, Phaneuf is a big guy and sometimes it happens to Chara that his arm comes up on someone just due to the fact that he has 7 inches on them, but it sure as heck looked like a forearm to the face.
CBC replayed the Ference hit about 50 times to manufacture a suspension and indignation. I bet they completely buried this.
CBC did show one replay, but it wasn't a closeup. I looked at it several times on the DVR and it was obviously an illegal hit to the head. Anyone who says it wasn't needs to explain how a man's nose gets cut and starts bleeding out of the blue. Shanny's wheel of justice is indeed unpredictable, but at least one game is warranted in this case, maybe more.
