So that means Newberry should be playing? Cause Newberrry brings so so much to the table.

I thought Dorsett looked just fine. Showed a little rust, but hustled, forechecked, agitated - even a little offense. Even the "dumb" penalty was due to the fact that his stick got caught and then whipped back when he finally got it free. I was very pleased considering this was his first game back.

yea you're dorsett and his wonderful career stats show he should be in the game. Bottom line Newberry played physical and smart in game 1 and even had a scoring chance in limited time. He also didn't take any penalties. Dorsett took 2 penalties and contributes nothing. if hes hurt, then let him recover and put in players that actually want to be there.

Love this in depth analysis, player x was so terrible but we're not going to elaborate because we aren't capable of doing so.

Dorsett played a good game I like what he brought, something we lack. High sticking penalty while it is his job to control his stick was accidental, the diving call was questionable.

Boyle also had a solid game.

You elaborated just fine. The diving penalty wasnt questionable, it was embarrassing. What was even more embarrassing was when he completely lost his check and it led to Washington's best scoring chance in the game. Hes incredibly lucky Lundqvist bailed him out.

This isnt an indictment on him. Its to be expected from a guy who hasnt played in 2 months. The mistake was the fans who thought he could step right in and be a positive influence.

Yeah I don't see it the same way as you so that's fine, he did lose that foot race though. Which is a mental lapse and most likely has to do with missing so much time.

People are actually saying Dorsett was bad?! What a joke, sometimes I wonder if people actually watch these games or just decide to hate on every player. He made one dumb play, which he didnt mean to make, either way its his fault. But other than that I thought he played a solid well rounded physical game. He is the perfect player for playoffs, and would compliment our team even more if we could put the puck in the net and get some leads.

Always looking to lay blame... The only guy's I'm even a little frustrated with are the big $$$$ guy's who need to step it up... People that make that much $$$ are (IMO) expected to have an impact during the SC playoffs. Role players are just that..
If the Rangers fall in the 1st round there's no doubt I'd like to see Richards bought out...

If youre going to lay blame, it sure seems like it makes more sense to blame the guys playing the game on the ice rather than a man standing behind the bench

Dorsett was alright for a player who is playing with his new team after being hurt for over a month after being traded at the deadline.... he should get better as the games goes on...

Dorsett was fine. Some of the comments here represent a real lack of knowldege of hockey. He hustled, he hit and seemed to be in position the whole time. The high sticking penalty was a fluke.

Who did you expect? Gordie Howe?

Dorsett single handedly lost us the game. We traded Gaborik for him expecting him to average 10 goals a game. Dorsett is the best thing since Wayne Gretzky and all he can manage is 8 hits and 4 PIM in a crucial playoff game? Send him to the ECHL. He ****ing sucks. I'd rather have Miloslav Horava or Hugh Jessiman or Pavl Brendl on this team instead of this piece of garbage. Hell, put Biron on the wing instead.

I don't care about systems, lines you're on (1st, 2nd, or 3rd anyway) you have to make play's..... Player's make plays, regardless of what's on a fu***ng chalkboard or who's on your line...

He has looked a bit rusty but overall pretty good. No PK for him yet. 3rd line minutes mainly.

That's my opinion as well. I watched Dorsett alot over the last two seasons, he's not back to 100%. Which of course on here I have to follow that up with 'he didn't play bad, just not up to what I expect from him'. Would have been nice to have him healthy playing a few games before the postseason. Glad he's in there now, would love to see him pot a few, that secondary scoring can win series like this.

Agreed. He started to get it more towards the end of Game 3. Started mucking it up and moving his feet more. I can not explain how excited I am that the Rangers were able to add him.

Most positive thing I can say about him to this point is he creates chaos out there nearly every shift. Some good, some bad.

That's his role. To be a buzz-saw. The Rangers haven't had one since Avery really. I wish the entire bottom-6 was filled with players like that. Would have been fantastic to have Prust AND Dorsett.

His linemates have to know he's gonna be a bit of a lose cannon, they have a responsibility to foresee that at times. Hopefully they have some chemistry from practicing together.

I can understand not signing Prust to a big contract. What makes me angry is this organizations failure to replace good players who leave or who are hurt with quality depth. This is where the drafting and stocking the farm comes into play.

Dorsett had 3 scoring chances in game 3. One in the 2nd. Two in the third. He had a glorious chance when it was 3-2 Rangers in the 3rd. Dorsett almost made it 4-2. He missed 2 months. Dorsett gets dropped into a playoff series after having not played for 2 months. That's not easy. He is more than capable of laying out a few Caps in the next few games. He has an affordable contract and he is signed for two more seasons. The type of contract the Rangers wanted to give Prust.
