Moving one of our 1st round picks for a roster player is an interesting option, though I have a hard time thinking of anyone that might be available.

I would trade 16 for any forward in between the age of 21-27 that averages 55+points a season, good 2 way play a bonus. Filip Forsberg got Martin Erat in return, so I think Minnesotas 1st is of similar value to Forsberg. I would want someone atleast 5 years younger then Erat though.

Thoughts on Edler for our #8 overall pick? Some discussion on the trade boards about Edler.

For Minnesota's pick, maybe. I wouldn't move the #8 for him, though.

Ditto.

I would love to add Edler to Ehrhoff but not for the 8.

I would probably add to the 16 though.

Why would they trade Edler? Just signed him to a 6 year extension. Plus his NTC.

I was hoping to sign Edler as a UFA until his new contract. Not sure I'd trade for him though.

You aren't getting Edler with the #5 pick, let alone the #8 or #16.

the more I look at the draft board, the more I see us moving the #16 pick for a player

I would trade the Minnesota pick #16 for RFA Chris Stewart. He is right in that range as is bobby Ryan..another player I'd move that pick and some players for.

If you're going that route than I'd gladly take Pietrangelo

I think we'll do the same thing as last year: stand pat (though not for lack effort) with the earlier pick, and then use the second 1st rounder and a 2nd to move up and grab a guy we really like. Bo Horvat, for instance.

Would you have to move up from 16 to get Horvat, though?

He's the kid of player that teams love, but I think you can stand pat and get him at 16.

I think Horvat is gone before 16 rolls around. He's really helped his stock recently.

I think he's gone in that 10-13 range. He has what teams covet: positional value (center), size, and hockey sense. I can envision scenarios in which he's preferable to some forwards like Domi or Shinkaruk who are more skilled but don't have the size or all-around game Horvat has.

He screams Phoenix (#11) to me. I can even see Nill and Dallas building up their middle and grabbing him at 10.

I'd be happy with one of Nurse, Monahan or Lindholm. I really hope Nichushkin goes in the top 7.

I would much rather we make the 4 picks then give up a 2nd to move 16 up..their are plenty of solid options at 16 who will be available. I would hate if we gave up a 2nd to move 16 to 12ish.
