Manchester Overload?

Maybe someone else like the Monarchs faithfulls can chime in, but doesnt it look like Manchester is gonna be overloaded at forward? Kings bring over Kopitar, sign Moulson and Ivanans, Roussin and Hogeboom are probably ready for AHL duty now.

So that gives them Kopitar, Tuk's, Pushy, Moulson, Kanko, Clarke, Guilliano, Hogeboom, Roussin, Zeiler, Ryan, Jackman, Lukacevic and Ivanans. 14 forwards..? I guess that's right, but I know 4th lines are usually are pieces of other lines in the AHL, so they usually carry, what 12-13.

I don't think Kopitar will be with Manchester. From what I saw last night, the kid is
ready to be our # 2 center.

Yes...but there's the point that JohnnyUtah hinted at in the other roster thread with regards to spot availability. While both Kopitar and Sully might be ready, there will probably only be room for one in the top-six. One of them is Manchester-bound.

And if Kopitar continues to perform as well as reported, it may be a tough decision.

Cowan has most likely skated his way off the Kings roster.

Would hardly be the worst thing, but where do you come up with that equation?

KB (or someone who knows positively) feel free to correct whatever I get wrong here:

I think an AHL team carries a 19-player roster: typically 11 forwards (3x3 plus 2), 6 Dmen, and 2 goalies. If the players you mention are indeed in Manchester by the time the roster needs to be finalized, some will find their way to Reading and some may be bundled into a package. We do need to replace Petiot and probably pick up another defenseman.

Cowan, Belanger or TK, probably with one of the goalies for a defenseman is my guess.

Actually, the 11+6+2 is what you DRESS on game day. Just like NHL teams generally carry a couple/few "spares" --- AHL teams will have healthy scratches as well. My guess is that Manchester will actually carry 13+7+2 for a while.

1 game does not make him a #2 center. The feeling around the organization( or so i have heard by majority) Is that he will be in Manchester this season, at least to start anyway. Got to get this kid adjusted to the NA game.
Manchester becomes even more loaded at forward IF Boyle and Parse sign after their college seasons.

Are you thinking that the Kings will acquire a roster defenceman with that and then Weaver or Dallman will be pushed down to Manchester?

Yeah seriously Reap's. The Kings have 6 everyday NHL d men with Dahlman and Weaver vying for #7. They probably wont have to deal NHL quality players to get an AHL defensemen, which is what they need.

As crowded as the Kings and Manchester Rosters seem to be, I can only see this as an overall positive, as the quality of the players and prospects hopefully are improving and forcing the weaker links out or down the system ranks.

Moulson / Kopitar / Tukonen
Lukacevic / Ryan / Pushkarev
Roussin / Clarke / Hogeboom
Jackman / Giuliano / Kanko
Ivanans, Zieler

Nolan / Dallman
Harrold / Mormina
Buckley / ???
Petiot* on IR

LaBarbera {or trade ?}
Brust
Munce

Looks like a few get shipped to Reading again as well.

Joe Ryan was going back to school wasn't he ?

You gotta think Ivanans is gonna see some ice, so I figure Zieler goes to Reading.

Nice overall line-up card, exactly what I was thinking.

That D definately needs another blue chip prospect in it.

That was before training camp started. If Kopitar continues to play better than the rest of our centers, why would they send him back to Manchester?

Right. The men in charge have implied repeatedly for months that Kopitar could secure a spot on the Kings if he is extraordinarily impressive at camp. The naysayers always forget that last part. So far, I'd, personally, say that Anze has lived up to his end of the bargain. How much "adjusting to the NA game" do you really need when you're always the best player on the ice?

The kid has skills, which is very apparent, when you watch him play. The talent is glowing off this kid and his man's body and height make his jump to the NHL real.

Still wondering in the end, who will be the better player, between Anze and O'Sullivan!

well obviously if he plays well enough he probably stays in LA.
But its the preseason and its a long and grinding season, who knows if he can deal with the long NHL season. Thats what I am thinking sendhim to Manchester and see if he can handle it. It certianly would not hurt him, It didnt hurt Cammy and Brown.
But hey I hope he makes it, I have him on one of my yahoo fantasy teams.

There are a lot of forwards heading for Manchester. Some will ride the Reading, perhaps one or two will be loaned to Bakersfield...

I'm looking at it as a shake-out year in that Lombardi inherited a lot of the players and has brought in some new faces. My guess is that some guys will be traded as part of bigger deals, for picks and future considerations as time goes on...

You can probably add Clarke, Moulson and maybe Kopitar to that list soon. Also, either Parros or Ivanans will be down there as will a goalie unless someone gets dealt.
