As for Penguins draft picks, we have two 3rds, a 4th, and a 7th (most likely the 6th will go to Carolina)

3rd round candidates:

D Matt Murphy
D Eric Roy
RW Hudson Fasching
RW J.C. Lipon

As for the 4th and 7th, no idea lol.

I would love Sven andrighetto. 98 points in 53 games in the regular season and 30 in 14 in the playoffs. The only chance he falls to the 3rd is that hes a 93 born so therefore a 2 year overager.

The nice thing with that is that he can go right away to the AHL and will be closer to making a contribution than a 95 born.
I actually think it's too premature to speculate about draft candidates at this point, because I really believe the Penguins will be active at the draft. It could be trading Orpik, Martin, Niskanen, Kennedy, Jeffrey, Jokinen or rights to players like Morrow/Cooke/Murray if we don't see them as candidates to re-sign. There's so much that could happen between then and now, I think it would be prudent to wait. I think the Penguins at the 2013 draft could be the Blackhawks of the 2010 draft.

With an ipotetical Stanley Cup game-7 that could last till June 28, and the Draft on June 30, I don't know if will be enough time to deal out players for the finalists ... imagine to win The Cup and beeing trade hours later

Even before the parade

But are draft day and UFA phase start set in stone or could it be moved back two weeks or something?

Great call on this one, I live close to Halifax so go the games quite often. He seems like a poor mans Osgood out here, he reaps the benefits of a star studded team and does just enough for them to win, he lets in a lot of softies, I hope we avoid him like the plague

Don't we have a 5th from Anaheim (Lovejoy)? And Winnipeg's 7th (Tangradi) ?

Both London and Portland are down 1-0 in their respecitve series. Portland play game 2 tonight, would be nice if both could turn it around =)

Coming in brahs and saying that Pouliot was simply fantastic tonight.

He was by the best defenseman on either team by a big margin and surprised how well he's developing defensively. I still don't like him at the #8 pick, but he definitely has grown over the course of this year with the most notable being physical. He is much tougher to push off the puck during those "risky last defenseman on the blue line plays" that could lead to breakaways.

I will say though that if people get frustrated at Letang's unwillingness to shoot on the PP, they will be tearing their hair out over DP. He really likes moving it around the perimeter...even when he has a lane to shoot.

But he played a ton of minutes, got a great assist, and played a pretty error-free game.

Have also caught a couple Winterhawks games lately, and Pouliot has been very impressive. His defense is really good, and where did that heavy shot come from? Thought that was an area of weakness....

Rowdy is on the money too-the dude needs to shoot more. It's a bit like watching Letang out there on the left point-except that shot is money!

That's why I loved Morrow. He didn't hesitate to shoot.

DP can fire the puck though... Better than Letang I'd say.

he looks like a more natural power play QB than either Morrow or Letang.

London ties up the series 1-1 with a 4-1 win. Maata with an assist and +2 and harrington was a +1.

Could be. He is an unreal passer.

I said before, he makes backhand passes that guys can't even make on their forehand.

He's got a solid shot when he uses it. Not a howitzer like Morrow from what I've seen, but keeps it hard and low and gets it on net.

He's certainly more composed back there. He's great at laying soft passes right on the tape under pressure (not like Letang failing to hit Malkin in his wheelhouse 5 times in a row), but he isn't always moving it purposefully ie drawing in checkers to open up lanes. Seemed like he was kind of moving it around for just the sake of it most of the time. But it's a small sample size, and his assist to Bjorkstrand was a beaut.

Speaking of which, Bjorkstrand's a guy I wouldn't mind picking up with our 3rd. He's small but feisty with a hell of a shot. Worked over Lazar pretty good in the corner.

How's Pouliot's hockey IQ? That seems to be the thing that will always hold Letang back, and will cause many nights like the past couple, where you wonder if he even has a brain. Hopefully Pouliot's prone to much less "wtf" moments.

I've only seen him play 3 or 4 times, but that's who he reminds me of. I'm not talking about the guy who was a Norris quality player; I mean the pathological need to pass the puck he had when on the Penguin's power play. I don't have nearly enough views to have a serious opinion on Pouliot as a prospect, but his pass first nature is very apparent even in my limited chances to see him.
