LOL as over 1200 people are viewing that thread right now and over half of the posts in there are calling for Alain Vigneault's head.

Couldn't read fast enough to keep up with it. Saw some "trade the Sedins" posts.

Canucks are now officially in a 3-0 hole. To think Shane Doan almost signed with them in the offseason.

If Shane Doan had signed with the Canucks they wouldn't be down 3-0.

I think he did a pretty bad job handling the goalie situation and everyone knew it would rear it's ugly head as soon as the playoffs came around but I also blame management for putting him in such a predicament, they should've found a way to move Luongo in the off-season.

Agreed, regardless of the goalie situation, that team has always been in need of a heart transplant! I'm glad Doan didn't go for obvious reasons but also because while he would've helped a lot, I'd fear that the Canucks bad juju would've gotten all over him!

Then there would have been an outcry over whichever AHL goalie or journeyman played in net games 1 & 2 while Schneider was injured.

haha yeah I'm sure there would be some *****ing but I think most fans understand that having a $7 million backup goalie is not a wise personnel choice.

Anyone else mildly annoyed that Abdelkader just got two games for pretty much the same hit that got Torres 25 games last year? Time to let it go, I suppose, but the Department of Player Safety is an embarrassment. Yes, I know Hossa was injured more severely and Torres had history. So, I don't have a problem with a difference in the lengths of the suspensions. Even a major one. As it turns out, I was one of the few who was not apoplectic about the Torres suspension -- even though it severely curtailed our chances against teams like the Kings. As long as it was ushering in an era where the league was dedicated, no matter what the consequence, to have the courage to protect players, I was ok with it.

Not so. They just made an example out of the Torres and now are back to ignoring it. Bourque got nothing for last night's obvious, targeted elbow on the Ottawa game. He didn't even try to disguise it with a hit -- he just held up, waited for a guy to cruise in behind him, and then hit him in the head with his elbow.

Suspending one guy, one time 25 games doesn't do anything in isolation without follow up. It just makes you look like grandstanders. The only message being sent right now is that the league seems to like it -- they know Ottawa/Montreal game 4 will get big ratings now and they aren't going to mess with it. Someone is going to get decapitated.

The Torres situation was just horrible timing. That week several series were reaching critical mass with all kinds of hits/cheap shots/etc. and the always annoying media that normally doesn't even notice the NHL was spewing all kinds of negativity. It was all coming to a head when Torres through that crushing hit and the NHL seized the opportunity to make an example of him. It was complete ********!

No question there NHL is messing up big time with how they handle punishments here. Couple of things that are often overlooked when talking about Torres is that he is a repeat offender and those who have a history of getting suspended by the league is taken into account to what kind of punishment should be handed out. Did Torres deserve to get suspended 25 games or get a reduced sentence to 21 games? No! Did Torres deserve to get something in the range of 5-15 games? Of course and chances are he would have received that if the act he commited on Hossa happned on a week where all sorts of dirty plays were not happening.

On a related note, I bet the league will be more careful in the future with what they hand out seeing that anything over 5 games is eligible for appeal via 3rd party only. 3rd parties usually tend to make ruilings that favor the individual who got punished than those who do handout the punishment.

The phrase that was used around the world to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing was "Boston Strong", along with that same symbol in gold as a logo.

Turris wins it for Ottawa.

Isles beat that classless team called Pittsburgh.

Alain Vigneault refused to shake hands with the players afterwards. Just went straight to the locker room, which in SJ means a walk of shame across the ice. Classless move by a classless, heartless organization. Couldn't be happier.

Didn't notice that. What an idiot. Tippett didn't refuse to shake the L.A. players hands after the Dustin Brown kneeing fiasco last year.
