Read/Simmonds >> Hall/Eberle

Apparently. And it's comical how none of our guys are getting PP time.

But we should hire Lindy Ruff, right?

(This isn't a jab at you, just the posters who are clamouring for Ruff)

Ruff has never seen the Avs or Oil play. Terrible line management. Cannot be better than Krueger.

Hall has played the least minutes on the entire team so far.

Some say he's the best goalie in the SM-liiga today.

Oilers Management will probably say they' re gonna sleep on it even if that goalie wants to play for us

The Oilers management's MO: don't call me, i'll call you

Raanta's numbers are exciting, but they could use a little perspective.

Two years ago, he posted a SV% .918 in 18 games backing up ex-Leafs prospect Mikael Tellqvist who had almost identical SV% of .919.

Last year (his first as a starter) his .933 SV% was outstanding, but his backup that year put up .926 in 24 games on the same team.

This year, Raanta's numbers are better still at .943, but his backup's numbers (.922) are also outstanding.

I've never seen Raanta play a single minute of hockey, so I don't want to suggest he's not every bit the quality goalie lakai17 is suggesting, but I do think it's possible that system and quality of opopsition might have an affect on those stats a bit.

Either that, or we should try to bring in both Raanta and the guy backing him up (Juha Jarvenpaa). Both goalies are 23 years old and still very early into their playing careers.

Don't worry. SWE lost 3-2 as well against the Swiss.

And for those who like to gloat, Landeskog was benched... Oh, and trust me, that was much worse than benching Hall, you need to take a look at our roster to understand which players were preferred ahead of the COL captain... We have Loui Eriksson and ... and ... hmmmm... Yeah, that's about it.

Anyway, Smid is doing great. Despite their loss yesterday he stood out (best player in the Czech squad) and to be honest he seemed to thrive on big ice as he even made a couple of slick moves that I did not expect from the Smid... Eberle seems to be doing ok (I missed today's game though) and I'm sure Hall will be back with a vengance .

And, again, don't worry. Teams like the Swiss, Lativa, Belrussia etc etc play for their lives in the first couple of games (and they already have great chemistry after playing together for a long time) and then fall off. Remember that you're guys (and ours , SWE) have just played a couple of days together under a new coach and new system (no matter how simple that system has to be). Despite that they will destroy these teams (Swiss etc) in a week or so... Probably.

Hall has played less minutes than every other player on the entire team? What the hell? That's actually unbelievable, he must be pretty pissed off.

not as nice as giroux ladd!!!

Honestly though i wouldn't put those two together. Hall and giroux have been having pretty bad tournaments when it comes to giving the puck away. Those two together would be hell for the Dmen, and canadas D isn't good enough to make up for that.

If you're an Oiler not named Ryan Smyth or Jordan Eberle, prepare to be shafted at the Worlds.

Just ask Dubnyk about the last couple of years.

Where are all the Ruff supporters right now? 8 minutes a game for Taylor Hall, Mike Brown minutes... what a joke.

I figured Ruff would be a good option, but it's not looking wise anymore.

Imagine that a coach will sit a young star that needs to be better defensively when he has other options. Yeah, Ruff is so terrible.

Cannot be better than Krueger? A cardboard cutout of Ron Low is better than Kreuger.

Tough when you are not the best player on a last place team and have to be fully accountable and earn your ice time. This is Team Canada, not the Oilers.

Yet Eberle was not. Could it be due to better defensive habits?

Good. I hope he is. It will show him just how much more he needs to elevate his game to be considered world class and a playoff player.

Just ask Dubnyk about the last couple of years.
Dubnyk is a middle of the pack goalie. He has not been shafted. The other guy won the net. Also, it's still early. He can get some games in. Again, hopefully he gets experience to bring him to the level of a true starter. Again, Tean Canada, not The Oilers.

I had no time to watch the worlds this weekend but wow that's a complete joke... The PP is Hall and Ebs bread and butter. Having Read and Simmonds over them is nonsense. Maybe Ruff is lining up to coach Philly after the worlds?

Hall was giving up some juicy turnovers in the first period to be fair.

Welp, hope it lights a giant fire under Hall's ass.

I didn't see the game but it sounds like he turned over the puck a few too many times and paid the price in ice time.

Turnovers are one thing.

Turnovers because you are trying to make the highlight reel are another.

Yeah I don't get it either. Case of grass is greener I guess.

Ruff looks so done and ready to pack it in.

Best before date has passed. Probably long ago.

He's coaching the Buffalo Sabres, with vet players, to be one of the worst, most disorganized clubs in the league and this is who we want?

Theres no indication to be had anywhere that the sabres are a well coached club.

Apparently Ruff has the right growl, sneer, and mad dog face so he wins all the chuck norris votes..

Hall just can't be considered a playoff performer at this stage in his career......

because it's impossible.
