And I suggest watching the highlights from the game if they are on the Checkers site to see Biega's offensive capabilities

Starting at 1:01, Beiga's entry and set up on that goal :O

I've had that happen to me before when the Canes were making their 06 Cup run. I told another unit that called me for help "well I had the night off and I'm at the Canes game, so I can come in after it ends and we can get back to my place to pick up the car, I want holiday pay for this though, and the game probably won't end until 10 if not later in case it goes to Overtime"
"sure, that works"
(under my breath) "damn, they called my bluff, please go 4 OTs"
(normal voice) "... ok, I'll be in about an hour after the game then"
(hang up) "son of a *****"

I technically have 2 hours to respond, I'm about 45 mins from the arena to the house.

Another option is to have the hold the ticket, so my idea is, hold that for a couple hours, and check it again....

Its an hour of OT pay every time they call no matter what. So it works out a little bit better to do that.

Checkers lost 1-8 tonight. All around horrific game.

Game 5 is tomorrow night. I will be driving down from Raleigh to see it.

Sometimes the best thing that can happen to a team after a loss like that is to have another game against the same opponent right away. The opponent can be overconfident, and the team often makes a point to make sure they don't make the same mistakes.

That was a horrid game yesterday.

Refs was killing us for the most part, and for some reason they kept attack our midgets like Boychuk.

It was an ugly game all around.

Tied 2-2 now, I am listening live to Shaya.

I see a huge turn over in the AHL coming on though.

Getting smoked on home ice in 2 very important games. These guys truly are our future Canes.

Oh...and time for Daniels to go. I lay much of our prospect fail at his feet.

Not to mention putting up 50+ shots and scoring 2 goals. Carbon copy of the Canes.

I drove down to Charlotte to witness the massacre and here is what I got from it:

We have zero goaltending in the AHL beyond Madore, and I wouldn't consider him top notch.
The Checkers defense is as horrible, if not worse, than the Canes.
Murphy was not great, he refuses to shoot the puck when he has clear shots to the net. He opts to skate around and do some fancy moves instead of making a clean pass (he looked much better in the NHL than he did in the AHL)
Staal and Brody Sutter were some of the biggest guys on the team and were willing to throw the body around when necessary (as we all know Staal has no offensive game). Brody Sutter I think was consistently one of the best Checkers in the playoffs, but not during the season.
Brett Sutter looks alright, but I don't think he could be a permanent NHL player next year.
I don't even know where to begin on Boychuk... its so disappointing to see him succeeding in the AHL and not have his game translate to the NHL.
Dalpe had a rough series. He didn't put points on the board, but was one of the only players who was passing the puck last night and generating plays. He seems to be trying to improve his physical game, he delivered quite a few hits throughout the series with the Barons. I wouldn't say he was bad, he did take quite a number of shots, but none of them were great looks.

I don't even want to begin discussing Daniel's philosophy last night. Why he put Dalpe on the line he did (with Welsh) was beyond me. Their games do not mesh well together, at all.

Placing Rissanen and Krueger together was a joke. Neither one of them know how to play defense. They were -4 and -3 respectively.

Overall my assessment concludes with the realization that this organization is going to have to complete a serious overhaul to fix its problems.

Rissanen / Krueger has played the last 2 season together.

Brody has looked good in the later part of the season, he has developed good over the season.

Jared has improved greatly since last season, he went from a fringe ECHL player to a good AHL player.

Murphy has a lot of skill, he has a booming shot I wish he would use more.

Beiga is looking good, after being out with that concussion for a the entire time he was here.

Madore came down from where ever he was and went to being a rookie.

Muse came down from where ever he was last season, and hit a slump.

With all the talented roster that Daniels had all year long, and with great goaltending from Peters and Ellis, a first-round exit should get him fired. He doesn't know how to lead a team to victory.

yes, I'm being flippant

We don't have to fire him, we just don't have to renew his contract.

Yeah, it's probably time to extend the organizational change of direction. It's one thing to fail to develop prospects, but failing to win games as well puts Daniels in a bad position.

Oh, I must be mistaken. I thought this was the year that Charlotte basically lost an AHL roster full of players and still made the playoffs. I must be thinking of a different year...
