He's pretty invisible in game 3... at least at the halfway point.

No kidding. Would hope we can fill that top-6 spot with someone who will attempt to play defence and make more plays than weak deflections. Just down on him right now, he's looked terrible lately.

In 3 games, I think he's finished 2 checks and flown by Senators at least a dozen times.

He doesn't like to hit or be hit.

He is an example of what is wrong with this team....SOFT!

I hope tonight's game is that last time he wears the sweater... I'd take Dumont over him... the kid can skate, has energy and oh ya...finishes his checks!!!!!

Has looked really slow out on the ice of late, what happened to the guy that was putting up points for fun back in late March/Early April? That version of ryder I would happily re sign, this current one, not so much.

I thought he looked kind of slow then. He was just finishing. A lot of those goals were spoonfed. But he is a good guy to feed. When he is on he is on. When he is not scoring you just notice that he is not doing much else. It seems to work for him though.

Is this a joke? We need to move FAR away from Ryder-type players.

At least that trade domination lasted 20ish games.....We still rarely dominate trades anyway so we need to start somewhere. Let's hope we make great use of the money and the 3rd round pick now.

Talk about being useless. Unless he's gifted the puck with an empty net like in game 2, he's not gonna do anything for us. All the turnovers in the opposing zone last night were brutal to watch, he can't create anything. He never looks like he's hustling, he's weak for a guy his size and frankly I'd sit him for the remainder of the series. He's the anti-Gallagher, he kills off any ounce of energy we have.

Habs don't have a lot of roster openings for next season. But there aren't a lot of quality options to consider as alternatives for any openings we do have. I think when Ryder was filling the net after the trade, he looked like a good re-sign, despite not being an ideal fit stylistically. We needed goals, he got goals, lots of them, and the market didn't (and still doesn't) look too hot.

Now... well, I think it's more up to him. And why wouldn't he explore the market? With the dwindling availability of decent players, he can probably bank on a nice premium contract. I would take him back, but more on the discount side than on the premium side, giving his imperfect stylistic fit to our needs, and there's just no sense for him in taking that, so I expect it won't really matter. He'll explore the market, and he'll succeed in finding a nice payday that is really beyond anything we could or should consider paying him.

If there was a stat called "Fly-By's" .... Michael Ryder would lead the league every year.

PATHETIC display for a guy that size.

I'm not seeing a playoff effort out of Ryder, so no - no contract.

I would offer him a 2 year contrat at around 3.5millions/year. I'm pretty sure he will say no, and that's fine, but the only way I'd resign this guy is if we do it in the mind set that he will play the 3rd line, NOT be expected to be a go-to guy, and provide secondary scoring + PP time. A specialist of sorts.

Let's look for a better option instead of paying 5+m for ryder

He's probably playing but *******, everytime I see, it's watching a slo mo instant replay when he "moves" any part of his body. It's like he's going 14 frames a second while everyone else is going at the full 29.997 or whatever it is.

that is $3.6 million per year too much! Run from this guy as he is just looking for a retirenment contract. We do not need anymore terrible contracts like DD has.

we still won that trade by far. We can walk away from him after the season's over and I hope we do. Or offer him like 1 year for $2.5M which he wouldn't take

I don't wanna re-sign him, but he is a good player. He floats, but he is good at it. He has a knack for floating into the right place at the right time.

Like I've said since the trade, weak UFA market means he'll command quite the pay day. No thanks.
