The final spot?

Since i cant figure out how to make a poll, who do you think has got it... McGrattan, Hamel, Heerema or Payer. Id go with McGrattan since hes improved a lot, or maybe Heerema.

McGratton for sure.

If Kaigorodov gets sent back to Russia, I'd like to keep Hennessey.

IMO these will be the guys to start the season although maybe not exactly the line ups that you see below:

Eaves - Spezza - Heatley
Schaefer - Kaigorodov - Alfredson
Vermette - Fisher - Neil
McAmmond - Kelly - McGratton
Schubert will be the 7th defenceman and 13 forward.

Redden - Corvo
Phillips - Meszaros
Volchenkov - Preissing

Gerber - Emery

Foligno, Bass, Sawyer and possibly Kudelka will go back to junior, although after the game in Halifax Kudelka has a good shot at going to Bingo. I've always been intrigued by him since we drafted him. He's similar to Meszaros although not quite as highly ranked, Kudelka dropped in the draft too when we picked him.

I think like most teams when Ottawa calls a guy up from the minors they prefer someone with some NHL experience and maturity to handle it and to not screw up especialy if they are in a tight race. If they happen to be in a comfortable position either many points ahead of their rivals or a playoff position already attained then they may bring up the young guys to get the experience.

First call ups at the forward position will likely be to fill a 4th line role while guys like McAmmond or Kelly move up a line so it could be either Hamel or Payer, maybe Heerema. First call ups for defencemen could be Alison, Hedlund or Malec, experienced guys and Guard would be the goalie called up first.
